They sold their home games to Perth.Based on the ladder this year, even if they win an extra 7 games next year, it's still going to be pick 4

North Melbourne did not locate to the Gold Coast because North Melbourne supporters deserved to have the opportunity to attend all their home games.
Two seconds later they sell home games to Tasmania and then Western Australia.

They reckon they have so few supporters in Victoria that there’ll be a roughly equal number of their supporters anywhere else

I wasn’t aware of that. I thought it was use them in a trade for players or potentially lose them. Whatever… it’s a glorious cluster f*ck regardless

Like us they have reciprocal home game rights when playing as away team in Melbourne.
Just like the Hawks did in Dusty's 300th for our home game.
And we did when we sold games to Cairns.
The only caveat attached to those picks was that they would lose them if they significantly improved their ladder position.
You can't lose them if you trade them for other draft capital.
A monumental **** up in so many levels that led to us with another top 5 pick.

Even if you forgave them those trades .. the Daniel for 25 is unforgivable IMO. They had Darling and Parker tucked away. And they have running HBF options coming out of their wazoo … Fisher, McKercher, Scheezel … even Duursma, Phillips.
They must have known PRIOR TO THE DRAFT as we all did that at least one of : Whitlock, Whitlock, Shanahan, Faull, Sims, Armstrong were getting to mid-late 20’s…. as it turned out 3 of them made it.
They could have also easily traded 2 to GWS for 15, 16 and a F2. Armstrong and Whitlock plus capital for other trades.
Or pick 2 to us for 11, 23 and 24 : Hotton, Whitlock and Shanahan…. plus keep 25 and pick up the other Whitlock to play CHB.

All jokes aside, this may be one of the biggest reamings in sporting history. This is one of those where the AFL should have stormed into that north recruitment room and started throwing hands. I still cannot believe this trade occurred. North recruiters should apologize to their fan base.

In the past few years, I've hoped North could get it together, and long-term I still feel that way... But next year, I am death riding them all the way to the bottom. I hope it's the year from absolute hell for them. Pick 1 and 2, that'll do.

Not sure if either us nor GWS would have made those trades.
I think we by and large don’t realize how many deals are pitched over the trade period into draft night.
If we can think it, odds are teams have discussed it.

I'm not so sure we would have traded away 3 picks in the Top 25 of this draft just to get Pick 2, we were taking calls as early as 11 and no one could offer us enough to pull the trigger, so I just don't think it was going to be that easy
