How's everyone going? Been a heavy few days. Being the UK at the moment, I have been a bit shielded. MacMum - if you read this, IMO you have been awesome over the years. Don't let some of them get you down.
Well said - I lurked around these parts for many years before opening an account and posting and always loved her honesty and take on all things Lions. Its a disgrace that some round these parts on there high horses could even label her a racist. Please stick round MM. Ive seen a few others that arent hear anymore such as Dylan and Skoob and Patfullnkezz who I liked but are no longer round.

Thanks guys, love you too.

Just got to me, I'm seriously so un-racist (is that a word too bad it is now) I have form though apparently.....but anyway I'll just give it a rest for awhile I think

Take care you lot....cheers
You too MM.

I make gaffs all the time - and use words such as "happy little vegemites" but had no idea in this woke world we live in that such phrases are off limits even when one is in no way being disrespectful. But to then be accused of being racist as a result is offensive and insulting in of itself.

Sometimes you just give up when people make such accusations b/c they are just trying to put you down whilst making themselves holier than thou in point scoring.

Just keep being you xo

I don’t even rate it as a gaff. Happy little Vegemites just means someone who is completely over the top happy. I have never heard the product name used as a way of abusing a First Nations person. Here’s the original ad, drawing a long bow to suggest MacMum was linking the colour of the product with the players.

Problem is, someone, can't remember who insinuated MM was racist for using such a phrase or her posting had indirect elements of racism, well at least I thought they did and why MM posted that she may depart BF as a result.

The woke police are out in force these days and as someone that is dyslexic that butchers the english language and has writing skills of a primary aged kid, often come across as poorly or get taken out of context regulalry. There is no sympathy which annoys me thesedays, people are just waiting to jump on good intentioned people all the time, often to inflate themselves for likes or whatever gets them going.

I hear you - if you ever get the chance, check out “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller.
Amazing play and still relevant in these times.

I wrote a poem to Noel that was published in the Warrnambool Standard and got a run on the Coodabeens. I was happy with it.
Earlier this year I umpired a Hampden game…at the end of it Noel came over and congratulated me and my partner on how well we did and how great it was that we as former players were giving back…very humbling from someone as respected as he…for me anyway

Hey western royboy

Ode to Noel Mugavin

My trip to Warrnambool was made complete,
When I saw Noel Mugavin crossing Banyan Street,
He was a Roy whose boots weren’t fleet,
Unlike The Flea with skills replete,
He’d drop the ball and trip over his feet,
But my heart grew light and skipped a beat,
When I saw Noel Mugavin crossing Banyan Street.

Anything on Brett Grimley? Or the Harris’s or Kenny from Camperdown?

South Warrnambool obviously won! 😉

I’ll have to start writing. Heading back to Warrnambool this week. Inspiration might strike. I might write one for Ross Thornton and base it in Camperdown. Working title:

“I got kicked out of the Leura and woke up under the Manifold Street clock”

It might be semi-autobiographical.

No mate…the following of Noel is a complex beast. While South may be his heartland, son Ben has been a very good player for the North Warrnambool Eagles (Bushfield / Grasmere + Northern Districts) for the past few years, thus Noel has switched camps and follows the Eagles 🦅 having also coached Koroit with BIL Brian (father of Jonathon) as his runner, whilst Jonathon was just a 16yo kid at South and the Geelong Falcons in 1998. I am confident had Jonathon not got weeks for donging Lawrence Angwin in the TAC Cup, South would have won the ‘98 HFNL flag. 1998 was North Warrnambool’s first or second year in the comp and unfortunately Mortlake’s last. Kenny Hinkley got reported for striking the Koroit Runner (Brian Brown) in what was a hilarious situation (not for Brian) that was ultimutely thrown out at the Tribunal on a technicality.

Glad to see things haven’t changed. I loved the huge picture of Leon Harris they had at Mortlake in the social club. They were very proud of him. I got talking to Bernie Harris at Purnim Cricket Club at their ‘Double Wicket’ one day. Lots of beers under the belt. Funny guy. Dags Bolden was another original. Turned up to a mates 40th drinking beer out of long neck bottle like it was a stubbie. Another funny bloke to talk to about Fitzroy.

During the off-season, I will advocate for finding every obtainable beer that is in some way Lion-related, and put it forward as an energising and fortune enhancing brew of consumption for next year.

Obtainable from the building in the background and taken at my computer desk :D

Well, this is fun - Super Typhoon Noru is forecast to be a tropical low when it hits me here in Thailand's NE after wrecking Vietnam and Laos :(

Rain, rain and more rain and then some rain and storms and rain and storms and rain and rain and rain and rain.....that's pretty much the forecast here for the next 8-10 days :D

Lucky I can get beer next door from 7AM every day :D
