In the U/20 women's pole vault competing for Victoria are the Rangi identical twin sister Sukhnoor and Kushnoor who based on PBs and SBs should podium. They are warming up in front of me.

I cant remember Oz athletics at open age level having twins represent a state. I remember plenty of brothers and sisters but not twins.

Jaz & Bella Guthrie are also competing at these Nationals.

Amy & Lily Harding-Delooze also did it a few years back.

Both these twin-sets have represented Australia internationally.

Today's main event schedule (AEST):

1310 M 800m SF
1600 M U20 Long Jump F
1630 M Hammer F

1920 M 100m SF
1925 M High Jump F
1930 W Pole Vault F
1940 M/W U20 200m F
1955 W 1500m F

2120 M 200m Prelims
2140 W 200m Prelims

2 great 100m finals. Lewis beats O'Brien by 4/1,000ths of a second and Browning beats Kennedy by 5/1,000ths.

Browning's time was 10.001 so its rounded up to 10.01 amd Kennedy 10.006 and he gets a 10.01 as well.

Probably means Kennedy's 10.00 yesterday was a 9.99X.

cant wait until all of them

You will probably be waiting for a while - at least 10 months, I'd think.

Gout will probably only run at World Champs 200m (maybe one or two overseas meets) this year and then his last All-Schools Champs towards the end of 2025.

He might run a couple more domestic meets in Australia in Feb/Mar but his focus is on 2026 World Juniors so competition against seniors (or even over 100m) won't matter that much to him.

The rest will likely have a few comps against each other next year in the 100m though.

I'm still amazed by the girl who won the U20 200m - Emilia Reed.. She ran 23.29 - she's 14!! And she looks and runs like she's 14 - she's not an 'early developer' twice the size of the other girls. She's already beaten Lewis's U-16 100m record (she's only 14!) and destroyed the U20 girls yesterday, winning by a second.

How she grows and develops will be interesting.

Yeah the sprinters who amaze everyone at really young ages don't necessarily develop into champions at senior level.

Female American sprinter Tamari Davis was running similar times as a 14 yo. Now as a 22yo has won a world championship in a US relay team and made a world championship 100m final, but has not attained the individual accolades at senior level that at junior level she absolutely dominated.

Gout may turn out to have a similar trajectory in the seniors.

Yeah, it happens quite often.

And often it happens in reverse. I.e. Serena, Steffi Graf and Court are considered by many to be the three greatest female Tennis players of all time. The stats at least support that. None of them ever won a Junior Grand Slam.

After a brilliant session last night, we sadly come to the final day.

Saw Gout in the flesh for the first time in 200m heat. Geez he is so smooth. Good to see Aiden Murphy finally run well to beat Kennedy in the next heat.

The men's and women' 800m were 2 great races. The women's was slow early but a big match race for last 200m with Caldwell too strong for Hollingsworth.

The men's was a tighter battle, and Bohl, Craig and Boyes all producing PBs and all running world champ qualifiers. Bohl got a championship record and pretty sure it was an Oz record.

I had never heard of her before I attended the Perth Track Classic. The announcer read out her CV and I thought thats impressive, lets seen how this 14 year old develops. Then in that meet and now at junior and senior championship events (yeah I know u/20 isnt senior but it was same meet) on home track she has been bloody outstanding.
