In regards to the question, obviously I would not be against it if you read through the multiple threads on this topic. However, done with it now.

There is no metric at all that shows it was a success, just can't see the point of continuing the argument

I’m against a name change. While we will always be Footscray in my heart, we are now the Western Bulldogs and have spent a serious amount of time, effort and money establishing the brand. Those who care know we are still the dogs and the marketing potential to new converts to the dogs is substantially more powerful as the Western Bulldogs. Using WB as the brand conveys a much more significant area of to market to - either Western Melbourne or Western Victoria… take your pick.

Always interesting to gauge where our supporter base stands on the matter. SEN put up this poll which is overwhelmingly in support of changing the name back permanently. Must admit this surprised me given our new generation of supporters would have no nostalgic ties to the Footscray name. I personally would love to have it changed back but can’t see it happening.

That doesn’t gauge anything though, because its open to any neutral supporter to vote. In fact most comments are from other supporters.

Now if the club did it towards members, gee that would be interesting.

Meaningless poll but probably good for ratings and keeping the audience awake.

If you were a WB supporter and were happy with the name (WB) or didn't care either way, would you vote? Some would. But most couldn't be bothered, knowing it's pretty much a non-issue. And knowing it's definitely not something the club is considering.

But if you were a WB supporter and passionately wanted to go back to "Footscray" would you vote? Damn right you would!
