pick 23 does sound fair however, why does collingwood get hammered for wanting a first round pick, when hawthorn want 2 first round picks for hay who is as much a dud as cole is? he was AA three years ago BIG DEAL. Woey won a brownlow.
I would have agreed with you yesterday but today I read Adelaide are offering pick 17 for Trent Sporn  Suddenly I want more than a crummey pick 23 because the 'market' has gone haywire, the club is right to hold out for a pick in the 15-20 range.

You seem to think essendon will give a stuff if you send him to the pre season draft. We are interested in him, we arent obsessed with him. If richie Cole was 6'4 and could hold down CHB we'd be offering the world to get him across but the simple fact is he isn't something we desperately need so we wont be desperate in what we offer. Essendon see him as a bonus in the trade period rather than a priority.

Your coach gives more of a stuff than you supporters.

Pick 23 is a fair price. Never mind the other out of whack trades or rumours.

Whether he gives a suff or not i very much doubt sheeds will lose much sleep if he doesnt land Richie and thats the point im trying to make. You dont pay over the odds for something you dont need. As i said before if richie was a tall CHB we'd give yu pick 7 giftwrapped and maybe a player as well. Overwieght back pockets with questionable attitudes do not inspire one to get into bidding wars..

Add Watts, picked up first round, must be traded for one aswell.

SO....the way these trade ideas are panning out in the AFL, I'll offer our 4th round selection for James Hird...cos he was there.

yeap, Confirmed, Cole to Essendon for Pick 23!

Let's just hope he doesn't turn good, and now (even though i am sure we did already) we can bag him each time he gets pinned holding the ball when he decides to do his 30 metre runs.

yep a fair deal... no way hes worth a 1st rounder anymore.. hes like a house that is listed as a "renovators dream"

lots of work needs to be done on him to get him to AFL standard again..

lets hope he stays fat, soft and unreliable for the bummers...

Cole taken at pick 11 in 2001 and after 4 years of development we turn him into pick 23. It's another step backwards no matter how the club tries to spin it. Package pick 23 and Woewodin for someone like Ryley Dunn and I'll be less annoyed.

Dunno why yous Bummers keep on mentioning pick 7. We were after about 15 to 20. We got slightly less, but a good price nonetheless.

Cole's your dog now. Be sure to feed him plenty of beer and Four and Twenty meat. Maybe he can share a kennel with Rioli! Fat ********** Inc!!

And if Essendon get a first round pick for Ted Richards I'll be getting the hood and the burning cross out of the cupboard and be heading down to the Lexus center. Check out the David Jones prices for reject shop material!!!

Is that because he has played such fantastic footy with us?

Do you think no one noticed that he plays crap footy?

We won this, Cole was not worth a third round pick let alone a second round pick.

What has that got to do with Collingwood?

Because Cole has more ability than Ted Richards who is a stiff. What do you think we could have gotten for Cole at the end of last year? A pick between 10 and 15 no problem. Even Robert Shaw who is (was) an Essendon coach is on the record as saying Cole has more ability and currency than Richards. So if Essendon get a first rounder for Richards and Hawthorn get TWO first rounders AND a second for Hay how will you view our transaction? Buy low sell high not the other way around.

How you can equate what clubs will offer for Richards with what clubs were prepared to offer for Cole - astounds me.

Different types of players
Different size
Different potential
Clubs may pay a higher premium for height, other clubs may not.

On the basis of your argument, what happens with a trade at one club must also occur with a trade at another club else someone is getting screwed.
It dosn't make sense

Sydney give up pick 19 for Richards.
Essendon give pick 19 to us for Cole.
Analysis: We get what we want, a first rounder, Essendon get what they want in Cole, and Sydney get a dud in Richards, aw well back to the drawing board.
It seemed obvious to me at the time and here it is again, we could have had pick 19 but we settle for 23. It seems we either move to quickly or to late. And just because you don't rate Cole doesn't mean he has no ability. No less than 3 clubs sought out his services which is a matter of public record. And Robert Shaw on SEN, who is was an Essendon coach, said in his opinion Cole had more ability than Richards. See what the Wiz had to say about him when he was drafted at the time, not to mention the numerous amount of clubs who had him high on thier draft boards. Yes you can say he wasn't dedicated in 2005, and he's easily lead, but that is partly his fault and partly the clubs fault. It's to easy to say he's a dud, but then again their are hundreds of posters who make the same mistake.

Quality player who could hurt us in the long run. But to quote somebody famous, we dont want anybody here who doesnt want to play for Collingwood.

Time to move on!

yes, time to move on, im over him going to essendon already, no great loss going by his form this season, a loss potential wise, but i dont think collingwood will ever bring that out
