I would have agreed with you yesterday but today I read Adelaide are offering pick 17 for Trent Sporn Suddenly I want more than a crummey pick 23 because the 'market' has gone haywire, the club is right to hold out for a pick in the 15-20 range.Tinko said:pick 23 does sound fair however, why does collingwood get hammered for wanting a first round pick, when hawthorn want 2 first round picks for hay who is as much a dud as cole is? he was AA three years ago BIG DEAL. Woey won a brownlow.

Your coach gives more of a stuff than you supporters.marcuz said:You seem to think essendon will give a stuff if you send him to the pre season draft. We are interested in him, we arent obsessed with him. If richie Cole was 6'4 and could hold down CHB we'd be offering the world to get him across but the simple fact is he isn't something we desperately need so we wont be desperate in what we offer. Essendon see him as a bonus in the trade period rather than a priority.

Pick 23 is a fair price. Never mind the other out of whack trades or rumours.

Dunno why yous Bummers keep on mentioning pick 7. We were after about 15 to 20. We got slightly less, but a good price nonetheless.marcuz said:Whether he gives a suff or not i very much doubt sheeds will lose much sleep if he doesnt land Richie and thats the point im trying to make. You dont pay over the odds for something you dont need. As i said before if richie was a tall CHB we'd give yu pick 7 giftwrapped and maybe a player as well. Overwieght back pockets with questionable attitudes do not inspire one to get into bidding wars..
pieman1 said:Cole taken at pick 11 in 2001 and after 4 years of development we turn him into pick 23. It's another step backwards no matter how the club tries to spin it. Package pick 23 and Woewodin for someone like Ryley Dunn and I'll be less annoyed.
pieman1 said:And if Essendon get a first round pick for Ted Richards I'll be getting the hood and the burning cross out of the cupboard and be heading down to the Lexus center. Check out the David Jones prices for reject shop material!!!
It seemed obvious to me at the time and here it is again, we could have had pick 19 but we settle for 23. It seems we either move to quickly or to late. And just because you don't rate Cole doesn't mean he has no ability. No less than 3 clubs sought out his services which is a matter of public record. And Robert Shaw on SEN, who is was an Essendon coach, said in his opinion Cole had more ability than Richards. See what the Wiz had to say about him when he was drafted at the time, not to mention the numerous amount of clubs who had him high on thier draft boards. Yes you can say he wasn't dedicated in 2005, and he's easily lead, but that is partly his fault and partly the clubs fault. It's to easy to say he's a dud, but then again their are hundreds of posters who make the same mistake.pieman1 said:Sydney give up pick 19 for Richards.
Essendon give pick 19 to us for Cole.
Analysis: We get what we want, a first rounder, Essendon get what they want in Cole, and Sydney get a dud in Richards, aw well back to the drawing board.
