I know I sound like an old person writing this, but Ill never, ever be able to read a book on a screen. Same with newspapers.

I don't read books on the ipod, I meant listening to audiobooks (and BBC dramatisations of books).
I read books on my Kobo Aura One (my 4th ereader), however, and would never go back to paper books.
Interesting what you say about older people though, dedicated ereaders are increasingly used by oldies rather than kids; kids are reading on phones, phablets and tablets as ebooks slowly increase their overall share of the market at the expense of pbooks.

Yeah I thought you meant e-books. Talking books are great. Altho I tried listening to them while I was driving but I just can't do it, am concentrating on driving too much to really "hear" the book. Music or just mundane talk back radio while I'm driving..

Yes, agree with that, I only listen to abooks on, eg the train, because the ipod is more convenient than the Kobo.

Lol had this one- best Walkman ever.

Walkman ftw.

**** ipods.
I've ruined like five MP3 players/Ipods shuffles over the years putting through the wash. Although the last 2 just took it back JB's and go "Umm, it doesn't work anymore dunno why.." and they gave us a new one again :D

Walkmans were the best- always remember my SONY walkmans fondly.

Am assuming in 10 years+ time will not have the same fondness for the ipod.
I came back from a Hong Kong holiday in 96 sporting a new Sony Discman with 9 second anti skip delay, was the shit at the time!

They were awful to carry around tho! I didn't get one until 2003 in the States..
The shock memory also really burnt the battery life although this came with a rechargeable pack. It was funny how far behind Australia was in technology at the time, a few months before my older brother bought a decent Sony video camera and when you get over there it was like pretty much the oldest and crappiest model still left on the shelf.

Behind and how much more expensive too.. ffs back in 2003 the exchange rate was 50c for an Aussie dollar and the CD discman still would have been cheaper over there, than here..

Oh yeah also bought a heap of CDs that were about $17 instead of $30 back home. It was ridiculous how much music cost then, as kid it was generally a well thought out 'investment' picking which album to buy.

Lol yeah and at Brashs until Sanity came along.. then JB wiped them out.

I was a tightass tho, I always hit up Kmart or Target first before I went to the music stores, see if you could get them cheaper..
