Action Packed round coming up, all sides at full strength (bar injuries) and players vying for Origin II selection.

St George vs Parra - Cooper and Morris both out for the Dragons but they should be able to cope with Parramatta, who are seriously shithouse

Cronulla vs Brisbane - Lockyers last club game in Sydney (bar potential finals), like the Penrith match a couple of weeks ago I could see an upset happening but i'll stay safe with the Drongos

Gold Coast vs Penrith - Gold Coast are rubbish, Penrith have won a couple in a row, I'll tip the Panfers here although with little confidence

Canterbury vs Manly - Manly playing very well, Canterbury dont impress me all that much, should be a Manly victory.

Sydney Roosters vs NZ - Roosters desperate for a win, NZ have been in great form although remains to be seen if the bye has upset their momentum or helped them. Manu should be fitter tho! NZ win

Canberra vs Nth Qld - Couple of wins on the trot for the Raiders, hardly a place that Nth Qld will be suited to, from tropical night games to freezing cold day game. Canberra to continue more recent form with a win.

Souths vs Melbourne - Neither forward pack is great at present, but the class of the Storms spine should be able to get them home.

Wests Tigers
vs Newcastle - Waste of Leichhardt oval on Monday, but should be a pretty good game. Tigers are a better side and are slowly starting to get players back, should win this one.

Not much confidence in these tips, bar St George, and even they are due for a loss

I wouldn't disagree with any of that, but I think the Dogs/ Manly is a hard one to call. Good as Kieran Foran is, the Sea Eagles never impress me that much.

The Roosters hardly seem recognisable from the side that played some great stuff last year. Luckily for them, their defence hasn't suffered from the malaise affecting their misfiring attack. Maybe they were a bit fortunate to come up against a Warriors side that were generally rather poor by their increasingly high standards, Maloney's disallowed try notwithstanding. Is Manu fully fit? he doesn't seem to be imposing himself on games these days.

Manly steamrolled the dogs last night, far too easy for them.

Dogs are average as hell, however.

I will say on Maloney that he is an increasingly impressive footballer, When I first saw him at the start of last season I thought him a bit limited, but he seems to have blossomed. His kicking game is (nearly) as good as anyone's in the NRL, and he looks increasingly confident these days running the ball too. I thought he was very good against the Roosters, even though his team were misfiring somewhat.

Yeah Manly/Dogs was really men against boys, wasn't it? The Manly halves were again very impressive, in fact their whole back-line was, but I'll bet Cherry-Adams hasn't scored a soft try like that from a scrum since he was at school. Although to be fair, that's probably not that long ago. The Dogs looked lethargic; I expected them to at least match Manly in the arm-wrestle, but they didn't even come close to competing, as the Eagles effortlessly completed their sets in slippery conditions, eating up the metres. Great finish from Hopoate in the corner.

Souths Melbourne game was good, Souths could feel a bit aggrieved at the result after an incident in the 63rd minute or so. Taylor ran through traffic and got might close, ref called knock on but on replay he was either over the line or Billy Slater stripped it off him if he was short of the line, was a try or a penalty. Pretty horrid decision IMO.

Right call was made in the first place, if anything it should have gone to the video ref for checking, but would have came back to a ref's call, and knock on.

The Review Committee (or whatever they are called) viewed it today and gave it a thumbs up to the ref for making the correct call after all the sooking by Souths.

Hmmm.

Anyway, close game. Souths played hard. Well done to them. Obvious as anything that Taylor lost the ball though. He lost it then tried to roll it over the line. Good call. Ref was right there.

The Tigers really aren't firing like they were last season, are they? The Knights must feel pretty aggrieved after a strong performance. They looked the better side for much of the game, and the Tigers seem overly reliant on a piece of individual skill to get them out of trouble. They'll be glad to see Gareth Ellis back, though.

Great entertainment from the Raiders and the Cowboys, and what a game from the lad Sims!

Well the Panthers didn't have to be great to beat the Titans, and they weren't. The Titans seem completely hapless this season, with a nice piece of skill from Preston Campbell dribbling the ball over the line and touching down being their only notable achievement. It took Penrith all the second half to land the knock-out blow; they were hardly at their most creative.
