Cronulla
Penrith - Might be the last time I pick Penrith on reputation and potential if they lose this week.
Souths but Roosters will be up for this... Can go either way.
St George Illawarra - No one feels for Parramatta! Bugger them!
Gold Coast
Brisbane
Melbourne - With Turbo playing I would've picked Manly.... Now slightly leaning towards Melbourne.
Bulldogs

Get ready for the overreaction to last weeks lack of use of the sinbin.
Under/over is set at 10 😂😂

Taking my boys to their first ever game on Sunday night against the Dogs!

We'll get trounced but they may as well get used to it.

Nah it'll be close and could go either way! Newcastle had the bye and will be ready!

Dogs will be missing 4 million worth of players - Kiks, Burton, Kiraz, Sam Hughes & Sitili Taupanoua perfect time to play us also the Cronulla game was intense and brutal.

Hope you and your boys enjoy the game and have a great evening out!

Wish I had your faith in us, I've been so used to being let down by my team over the years haha.

Thank you mate, the oldest is about to turn 2 so we'll see what he makes of it. I kind of thought with that timeslot, I expect there'll be plenty of empty seats so if he gets too restless, he can run around a bit haha.

Things guaranteed this week:

Victor Radley to spend time on the sideline. If concussion tests don’t get him, the crackdown will. Nothing surer.

Interesting to see some of the reaction from Dogs fans to the criticism of Mahoney from the weekend; they’re a sensitive bunch. It was almost universally ‘Mahoney is a great bloke, plays good footy, just needs to get some of the shit out of his game.’
Basically what we put up with for 15 years with JWH.

You’d swear blind it was Cameron Smith being attacked to hear some of the passionate vitriol back the other way.

After doing a bit of research, of all the starting hookers, and the recognised back ups (Liddle, Dockar-Clay etc) Mahoney is by far the worst tackler of the lot, and his passing game is pretty bloody ordinary for a guy who’s primary role is to pass the footy.

For perspective, his tackling efficiency is about 85 per cent. The next worse in the entire league of regular hookers is Jazz Tevaga at 88. Most of them are over 90. Connor Watson in an abysmal defensive team is 97.

There are a huge amount of Dogs players who’ve turned them into a formidable outfit, and Mahoney DOES play a role but beyond his intangible ‘spiritual’ role whatever that may be I wouldn’t think he’s anywhere near the top of the list of reasons why they’re doing so well.

Anyway I digress.

Time for the Panthers to make a statement this week. Will be interesting to see if they pull their finger out and get back to percentage footy - that exhibition on Thursday was disgusting

Mahoney is just a shit Mick Ennis.

Buzz is right (🤮) in that if he'd done this in the past, someone would've chinned him much earlier in the piece.

Violence is never the answer but it would certainly help stop certain grubs in the game.

I’d go a step further but backwards so to speak: violence wouldn’t even be necessary, if they made the rules more relaxed around the use of shoulders he’d have been ironed out well and truly by now without anyone even needing to deck him.

I have to say - and I never ever thought I would - I’ve softened my stance on Buzz a little bit in the last couple of years. Maybe it’s the fact that amidst absolute out of control journos like Kent and Hooper who are basically just blokes from down at the pub (even if Kent actually DID make a lot of sense at times), and contrarians like Read who literally just say things for no reason, Buzz comes from a background of some knowledge and is usually reasonably well spoken even if he has some odd takes…. I dunno, maybe it’s the whole Richard Hadlee thing of sticking out in an ordinary team.

Wow you are game lol.

I got 2 year old twins and took them to a 4pm game couple of weeks back, decided ill wait till next year to take them to another game hahaha.

Arf! :D Mahoney is a little grub, and, as noted, nothing special compared to other dummy-halves in the comp. I always saw Mick Ennis as more of a pantomine villain, though! Funnily enough, I always thought he was a much player better for the Sharks than he ever showed for the Bulldogs. But maybe that's because the Dogs were a bit rubbish; I dunno! :D

Yeah look, there's every chance we're out of there by halftime :tearsofjoy: dragging my Dad along as well so he can help entertain when the time arises (about 3 mins in I'm guessing) haha.

It's funny, I don't mind Kent. Clearly a very flawed individual but I think he saw the game well. Don't care for Hooper.

I think you're right on Buzz. There's a good rugby league brain there but it's so often not utilised. Probably a by product of the way journalism has headed in general.

I don’t mind Kent either but as an ex journo I want to see journos be actual journos and try and be a bit professional so try and back up what they’re saying a bit and when he would sit there and, rightly, give the ‘come on, you’re grown men, act like it’ speeches, it was hard to take it seriously when he himself often found it hard. His footy views are generally spot on. He’s played, albeit only a bit, at the highest level, apprenticed under one of the great halfbacks, he knows his stuff.

But be one or the other: be a journo who presents and is professional, or be a ‘voice of the common guy but who brings genuine knowledge’ like he is now from a podcast. I think it suits him better.

Buzz just comes across a bit doddery and he does have that whole ‘boys club’ aspect to him and for a long time wrote to appease certain parts of the league fraternity and that was his biggest weakness as a journalist. But when he does speak from a genuine place of his knowledge of the game yeah he has a really good depth of understanding of it.

For the life of me I can't figure out why the Warriors aren't involved Multicultural round.
The governing body have always been terrible with this kind of foresight.

I can't wait for the year the Broncos get the bye in Magic Round.
