You pay peanuts, and you can't expect much these days. They should hand it over to a Year 10 Information Technology Class. It would be up to date, user-friendly, and cost nothing.

I say the same thing all the policy & guideline updates at work.
Instead of paying a half dozen people $50/hour to not get it done, call up a Uni and see if they can get students to do it as an assignment!

Agree mate. Great work by boronia getting a team up a going.
Absolutely great to see a division 1 club getting all 3 teams up and going strongly and pushing from premier great work by their club to go from Div 3 and climb the ranks by having a clear plan on building the clubs depth by adding 19s!

It’s Easter and with only one or two games down it’s way too early to make statements. But here we are:

I’m not sure a lot has changed at Doncaster East. At home to a shockingly young Berwick side and they struggled to shake them off. The most underperforming football club in Victoria still may not have found the formula. You’d hate to be the blokes pouring the riches in, throwing good money after bad. Hint fellas - you’ll waste just as much money on a racehorse or a mail order bride, but you might get a few thrills along the way.

Reasonable effort against a strong opponent from Noble Park but good lord they look weak on paper. Feel a long season coming.

Great effort by Mitcham. I feel the Top 4 is a fair way ahead in Premier (Rowville, ER, Balwyn, Vermont) and 5th is up for grabs - they might just be a chance for it.

North Ringwood disappointing so far, list looks better than the performances.

Go ahead and relegate Norwood now, put them out of their misery. Huge fall from grace highlighting the reality of every administrator’s worst nightmare: the player exodus. Keep falling, concentrate on the juniors, it’ll be a long road back.

Things do not look good at Croydon. Had it tough being relegated in second last, then backing up into a GF and running into Boronia. Now they look in need of a major refresh.

Heathmont a wait-and-see. Taken the Doncaster East route and thrown piles of money at it. It takes a little more than that. Have all the talent, let’s see if they can harness it.

Mulgrave playing like the Harlem Globetrotters but have a soft early draw. Have to see them against decent opposition.

Surrey Park with huge list changes since last year, that will probably take a bit of time. Not bad but nothing too impressive so far.

Templestowe the team of D2 so far. A strong 2024 and some smart recruiting. Hot take - as they showed in Round 1 they’re just as good without Mitchener, who is in shocking condition for a bloke playing semi-serious footy. He had $1400 on his head on trainstop over the summer - you’d hope they’re paying nowhere near that. Play a fitter ruckman and invest elsewhere.

No standout poor side in D2 - will be a stiff side that gets relegated.

Thinking Donvale might just walk D3 relatively easily and finally get promoted.

A great early sign in D4 with no team yet looking like easybeats who will be blown off the park. Hopefully no cellar dwellers this year.

Let’s see how many of these turn out accurate… at this early stage, I’d say very few

Judging off the premier data stats posted, Mitchener is going alright with 30 touches, 15 clearances & 47 hitouts on the weekend.

Until Donny East get a good coach they are going nowhere. They have pissed that much money up against the wall the last three years on players I wonder when the penny will drop maybe pay a good coach

Mitchener can’t run or put in any sort of second effort, so he just stands at half back. The poor teams just kick it and he marks it.

The smarter teams don’t kick it near him and it nullifies his influence as he can’t follow the ball.

His opponent is also able to have a field day as he goes nowhere near him.

Against the better teams, I think Templestowe would be far better with a fitter ruckman.

They just beat the team that finished 2nd last year by 70 and Mitchener had 30 touches and 50 hitouts, seems like both the team and Mitchener are going alright. Maybe his opponents should start going near him as he is normally the one who has the field day.

I did mean to say: well done on your original post, by the way. I don't think we really disagree on too much although I think "can’t run or put in any sort of second effort" is too harsh.

I reckon he is a smart footballer and the team has worked out a game style that fits what he can and can't do. A very interesting comparison to Bailey Griffiths, who was expected to be the #1 ruckman at the start of 2024: much fitter, taller, with a better leap – athletically better, but practically not.

Having the ruckman sit a kick behind the play isn't a new tactic and yes, better teams can "go around" – but in Div 2 they don't always have the skills to do so.

All that said, these are the uninformed thoughts of a nuffie onlooker from the sidelines!

EFNL needs to hire a scissor lift for grounds where they don’t have a grandstand to film from. Shocking vision of today’s game.
Interesting they didn’t seek to use the rows of bleachers next to the club room - they have also filmed from the central rd wing previously. Haven’t seen footage as was there great win for the burners. Stoddart handy in

i dont get the positioning of the cameras and the commentators looking directly into the sun all day....

Can’t they get their van into that ground

Not sure. Reckon they do a good job, you don’t get better coverage at local level. But just at grounds where they don’t have an elevated viewpoint, find a way to get the camera up higher with a scissor lift or something. Makes an enormous difference to just having it at ground level which is a really poor view.
