Re: Northern Football League Division 2

Why would he have his hands full??? Hammy is the stiffest bloke going around what has this peter bloke ever done anyway????
Peter applied for the job along with several others and was successful, congratulations to him.Whittlesea have a habit of changing coaches prematurally which is not Peter's fault. The commitee make the decisions for the club and will have to take responsibility for their decision,Hammy may have been stiff so i hope the new coach realises that instant success is the only way of keeping that job.Unfortunately that's the way things happen up there.Maso you should not be getting on here and putting a negative vibe about the clubs decision and instead put your full support behind the new coach wheather that decision was right or wrong.

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

Dale,

Just Wrote How I Was Dissapointed My Friend Didnt Get The Job.
Obviously Peter Did Something Write Because He Beat Hammy And Guy Booker For The Job.

As I Said Yesterday That We Will Have To See What He Is Like.

Be Very Interesting To See If Everyone Hangs Around Now That Hammy Is No Longer There. He Was Very Close To Alot Of Players

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

It may be hard to fathom now, but Heidelberg West were once in Division One, and in their early years in Division Two they did have some success.

And although it's been a bad run for them in recent times, their (and Panton Hill, who have only one two premierships in 1934 & 1955 & Junior flags in 1964 & 1965) committee & players should be admired for fighting the good fight because it's much harder to run an unsuccessful team on the field than to
run a club with on field success.
Agree the committee should be lauded for persisting over many lean years however it is a prime example of sending a club broke by chasing rainbows.
West invested plenty in players during the mid - late 80's culminating in ex VFL player Michael Reeves as Div 1 playing coach but never got across the line and have been in a downward spiral ever since.

Couldn't agree with you more mate. Peter will be a great coach & the eagles should be applauded for his appointment. If the players get behind Pete & his ideas you will see a very professional outfit. Don't know Hammy that well but seems like a good bloke & coach but an outsider might be just what they need

They've just picked up our non-playing coach from South Yarra in the SFL. Phil Ballis. Great bloke, did extremely well to get us back out of recess and we'll be realistically expecting finals this year. I wish he'd stop trying to take Yarra players to Heidelberg West with him, but I guess he's gotta do what he's gotta do. Good luck to him with everything except the poaching. :D

Monday the 19th Nov sounds about right for the formal start ursin. Have seen a small group led by another Big Footy member leaving the club around 6 o'clock several nights a week. Not sure, but they were headed up the big hills at a fair pace last I saw. Maybe RAAV can give further details.

Alot of the guys are looking to have a real crack in '08 after a couple of disappointments in the past few years as i'm sure all clubs are.

Any truth to the rumour Morang has a weekend training camp early next year. Was told they were headed to a beach location and some serious training for some of the more unfit was planned...i.e. Ham steaks? Bamf? Johnno?. Wouldn't want Ham Steaks to train too hard, although i'm sure he'd be the last to throw up cause he wouldn't want to waste food!
