I’m all out of kilter over here in Ireland. I was all prepared to fire up Foxtel Go at 6.30 am tomorrow for the game. I’ve only just realised I’m a day early. 🤣 Same thing happened last week. I should be over the jet lag by now, surely! I’ll be a frazzled mess by the time the game starts. At least, it’s on at a halfway respectable time for me. The Prelim was pretty hard having to wake up at 4 am.

Edit: It’s actually on at 8.45 here.
Did we win

For those who will be watching the GF on tv, do me a favour and let me know if my daughter's sign gets shown on the broadcast. She's very excited about attending the game, and I'd say it's 50% because she loves North, and 50% because she gets to stay up late :D

Yeah I could see Shierlaw retire if we win in which case we could make a play for Taylah Harris who is out of contract with pies and hawks chasing her and is very close with Libby birch

I'd prefer Bannan. She's five years younger, has a longer future. Unfortunately she's contracted until 2027 but that doesn't seem to be as much an issue these days.

Bannan is too flaky and frankly weird.

Is she holding the sign for her old man 🤣

Is she holding the sign for her old man 🤣

The older I get, the more 745pm sounds like a fantastic bed time! :D

But no, I made and printed the sign, but she was the creative force who decided what she wanted the sign to say. (The other side of the sign simply says "YAY NORTH MELBOURNE")

That Guardian article is brilliant. I think this bit resonated most with me.

The pleasure of watching women rise to become arguably the most dominant AFLW side we have seen has been an antidote to the pain of following men that have forgotten how to win. But it has also been a pleasure all of its own.

I think there’s a unique connection between our supporters and the W team, because of how it has been such an antidote. But I know for myself, it’s grown into something much bigger.

Hope they know we are the West Australian Kangaroos.

Gabby Simmonds will become the first WA female Field Umpire to officiate an AFLW Grand Final when North Melbourne plays Brisbane tomorrow night.

Simmonds, who was an emergency field umpire in last year’s decider, has umpired 57 AFLW matches and made history last year when she became the first female to umpire a WAFL League Final.

Simmonds is joined by another West Australian tomorrow night with fellow field umpire Matt Adams selected to appear in his second consecutive AFLW Grand Final.

Adams has long been an elite umpire at WAFL level, having been in charge of 267 League matches and eight League Grand Finals.

Yeah, I think its also because they are so North.

That we let the MUGARS train at Arden Street before women's footy was cool - and still didn't get in the initial W League.

Its just so North.

Hope the guy isn’t the one that wears #3 - he’s hopeless

Kearney will play on and is contracted for 1 more
I get the sense from the interview that Shierlaw did with the website during the week that she will play as long as she's able to.

In the mens comp a 35-year-old player has had 17-18 years of pre-seasons & that full-time workload would mean burnout for many.
Shierlaw didn't even begin playing footy until 27 and the women's comp has only gone fully professional in the last few years. She's at the peak of her powers and probably would have been in the AA team if she didn't miss two games due to injury. Why quit now when things are ramping up!
