Is it just me or does "Bevo" have a resting w***er face?
And when his face is not resting he looks like he's going to king hit someone in the Valley.

It’s the whole I’m not good enough to beat you 1 on 1, so I’m going to essentially suck the umpire into giving me a free kick mentality that really annoys me and I’m glad they’re cracking down on it.
Ginnivan has taken it to the absolute extreme and only has himself to blame.
He’s a polarising chirpy turd.

Won’t be long though until players find the next rule to leverage a free kick

also do not think it helped Cody saying it is a skill that I practise

Love them to crack down on throws. Everyone picked on the Matho one on the weekend.
I assume they never watch dogs games..

This was another situation where Matho got reamed about his handball (even though it was clearly a throw imo). Noone ever talks about the bulldogs doing the exact same thing every week though?
To be fair that was probably the most blatant throw I've seen all year

Absolutely agree. What I found frustrating though was dermies definition of "it wasn't the fist hand that created the movement forward". I had come to accept that that was simply a misunderstanding I had of how to handball, and not actually how the rule was written.

If it was written like that, where the fist must generate the propulsion forward, how the dogs get away with what they do (they are the worst offenders but it's probably half the league that does this) where the fist is merely touching the ball but it is shoveled into the direction they want it to go with the controlling hand, I have no idea.

The definition of a handball hasn't changed in years, but the interpretation of that definition appears to have.

Definition in this year's laws:

And the interpretation from 1977 which does indicate that the definition hasn't changed.

As every player has a duty of care to protect the head of all opponents, he/she also has a duty of care to look after their own head - I like the new interpretation.

As with all frees in footy it is a matter of interpretation from the umpires. Err on the side of caution, but the moment the knees blatantly buckle. or the arm is blatantly raised - Goooo

And when his face is not resting he looks like he's going to king hit someone in the Valley.
Needs a ciggie in his mouth to complete the look.

Thanks for finding that.Given the definition, how can any "over the head " handball not be a throw?

Absolutely is given strict interpretation. However it's now interpreted as "as long as the fist touches the ball", i.e. doesn't have to propel it. That's even what they're teaching in Auskick I've noticed, at least at our local.

Once you decide the fist doesn't have to propel the ball it's just a license to propel it with your bottom hand isn't it.

Basically a license to throw.

Taking away the strict interpretation of a handball also takes a lot of skill out of the game. It's a lot easier under pressure to hit someone with a scoop or a throw than having to handball it. Likewise makes it a lot easier for players who aren't proficient both sides of the body.

Tbh I hate the way they interpret it now . Why have handballs at all ? Just allow throws.

Why not go nuts and allow overarm throws NFL style

I'm hoping the Tigers win tonight, good for our top 4 prospects and the Tigers winning rules out a line in the sand game for them next week after a week of being lambasted by the Melbourne media.
That result would help but the Tigers form of late is not great. Also hard for me to wish for a Tigers win at the best of times bar v Pies
Tigers last three being losses to North and Suns and a win over Eagles where they each had 28 shots on goal

Best thing for the Lions is just win our games and not rely on others to win/lose
