What was I thinking tipping the GC?
You were thinking the Eagles played their grand final last week and that the Suns are a more dynamic and talented team, and if they were ever gonna break their away game drought and win, with finals on the line, that this game would be the one.

Yeah exactly that. Kudos to the Eagles for getting up again. ****wits.

Wasn't 'meima' a username fan here that 'defected' to the GC board?! I wonder if they regret that decision now..?!

Eagles won that in spite of Harley.

The umps aren't in his pocket anymore and I'm starting to think he's more interested in highlight plays than playing basic winning football.
he's going to be a freak, but someone needs to tell him to keep it simple stupid

GWS made sense from a "grow the game" perspective because the place is an AFL wasteland.

Gold Coast on the other hand is full of Vics sick of the Melbourne winters and already had the Southport Sharks before the Suns, which had produced players like Marcus Ashcroft and Nick Riewoldt.

AFL tried to go in GC with the same grow the game strategy but stuffed up by creating a whole new team instead of using one with a strong development record and decent supporter base.

Spent much time there , Southport ‘ membership ‘ is a complete illusion the club is just run of the mill but a super wealthy supporter died and gifted them millions and off the back of that they build a huge pokie plalace more like an RSL than a footy club

They funnel a bit back to footy so they are always strong on field but they have no more real supporters than Broady and Labrador etc

Funny you should mention Riewoldt

One day I played CHB on him there just before he was drafted and the coach sent the runner out to tell me I had to stick closer to that blonde kid … I just laughed at him and that was the day I invented zone defence for Aussie rules

Watching North vs Tigers - who are looking like the best and most exciting players on the ground?

I have watched approx 25 minutes and Bolton refuses to go near an opponent at stoppage. Baker has done some very good things. The most exciting players seem to be wearing Norths colours. As I haven't watched the whole game I may have missed some high level passages.

Bolton is classy but isn't getting it much for someone playing through the middle so often. He is playing the Sonny mid/fwd role.

To be fair, despite both being down the arse end of the ladder, the clubs are in different places. North have a lot of classy talent coming through, Tigers are sort of heading the other way.

With Bolton, we are somewhat speculating that he’s going to look a lot better in a better side, but I reckon we’ve seen enough of that from when Richmond were good to not worry too much.

Hang on those 11 possessions and 1.1 is worth 45 first round draft picks

Look I want him - I just feel he was anointed the next Dusty and he isn't close to him. One high first rounder is a high price. Another first is way overs on this form. We would want a large portion of salary paid as well.

He is being paid as though he is a consistent A grader. Is he as good as Papley or Betts or Walters when they were in their prime? Did anyone think we could get 7 and 12 for Walters?

I agree - and think that if the argument is that his form is down because he is in a weaker team, today we can see that perhaps he is just inconsistent.
