The bad thing for Carlton is that they needed a cameo from Kemp to get that close. They're not going to be able to rely on that every week.

Would seem that Voss may have some aura about him as a legend of the game and the way he played but may be lacking the ability to sell the message as head coach. I do not really rate their list. They have a couple of genuine stars and a couple of good A grade players but I think it falls away quickly and they have too many injury prone blokes. Their team defense is worse than ours at times and the only reason they where 4 goals up early was the Dogs poor skill level , many under little pressure.

They actually looked quite good from a pressure and defence point of view in the first half, dogs could not move the ball through them.

But they just run out of tickets.
They had a wretched injury run last year and there is seemingly an issue with their coaching departments relationship with the fitness guys but they are wasting the small window they had because of their elite top liners.
They aren't as bad as 0-3 suggests but they should be way better given their profile.

have been telling the muppets that not only are the bottom 4 - 6 (players 18 - 25 on the list) are shit, but they lack genuine match winners. Guys who can do what Bobby Hill did in that grand final, what Nick Davis did for Sydney in that prelim final etx.

They rely on Jesse Motlop, De Koning, Curnow and that's about it. Cripps looks beat up

They'd be done without Weitering.

What are you talking about lacking match winners?

They have probably the best spine in the league and a star match winner in every area of the ground (curnow, weitering, Cripps, TDK throw in walsh/McKay as your next tier down).
Their top liners keep them in games, their bottom tier role players are actually ok.
It's the mid tier who's form fluctuates horrendously not even week to week but quarter to quarter.

Their top form beats most in the comp, the issue is consistency, that mid tier group being too inconsistent and seemingly at the moment a fitness issue.
There's a few in the team who have rather glaring weaknesses too. Saad having no opposite foot and a propensity to just bomb in doesn't help their forwards.
Similar to Wright for us, amazing kick at goal, but his weaknesses offset that obvious strength.
Maybe a better way of putting it is their one dimensional players are their undoing when those weaknesses offset their strengths

And they suck at team defence.

Im not talking about guys who you can rely on to perform week in, week out. I am talking about guys who can take a match away from the opposition.

I dont see McKay as that, I don't see Weitering as that, even Cripps looks banged up as hell. I admitted that Curnow could do some damage,

The bottom 6 in the best 22 are crap and you hit nail on the head for those c & d graders as well. They are far too inconsistent to have Carlton as a serious finals contender. They NEED the A graders to perform to win, they need those b - c graders to perform above expectation to win. They are to inconsistent to back each week
