Cox, a legend of the Sydney Swans. Still remember his great kick, picking out his teammate Leo Barry in the Grand Final.

Non-footy related update here.

Have been away on holiday in NZ. Come back in time for preseason, get some check-ups done as I do each year and turns out I have three thumbnail-sized growths on my gallbladder. I have surgery on Thursday.

Haven't had a single symptom. If anything I feel better in health than I have in years, so it's still sinking in that this is even happening.

So probably won't be as active around here for a while as I get on top of this.
Wishing you a Speedy recovery mate.

Got any memories of some recent GF moments for the Swans?

So, was Longmire pushed? Sounds strange that he pulled the pin just before the pre-season and not in the weeks after the GF.

I don't love their succession plan with keeping him around. Cox should be given clear air to change things as he sees fit, not have the previous guy looking over him.

Succession plan with the previous coach hanging around worked wonders with Malthouse and Clarkson :p

Longmire became coach as part of a succession plan under Roos so Sydney know what needs ti be done for it to work

They’ve known this was coming and have prepared for it accordingly- Cox has been taking on a lot of the duties of a head coach, like his attendance at the draft

The changeover will be smooth because Sydney are as well run as any club in the competition

That said, I’ve no doubt Cox asked for and was given some assurances when the West Coast job became available

Do you think that waiting until after the trade and draft period some players could be a little blindsided by this move? If they knew about it then it would have been announced after the gf. He might have been nudged upstairs?

More importantly does this changed anything with Warner?

What is this even? Talk about jobs for the boys.

Imagine having Simmo hanging around the club directing "Club Performance".
I believe the full title is

Executive Director - Club Performance*

*Excludes Grand Finals

When I said they knew this was coming I meant eventually, not necessarily now - that wasn’t clear in my post though. So whilst it was expected Cox would replace Longmire it’s happened a year before they’d have thought

Not sure if it changes anything with Warner but if I had to guess I don’t think it will make much difference

Almost no side goes winless in the modern era. The season is so long that the Tiges will jag one against someone.

Probably us.

Would love the irony if it's the Crows
