We were describing him as the player of the finals in 2021.
At least up until the midpoint of the third quarter of the GF. But then nobody gave a yelp after that point.
I think my mind refuses to remember that game after half time.

If you're into footy media, and I don't consume other than here these days, the massively over exposed Garry Lyon will no doubt keep you all updated and informed with the Melbourne situation ... as it breaks .... and unfolds .... over the next 6 months🙄.....and beyond🙄

Cats are bog ordinary. If Melb forward line was at all functional they’d be in this game.

This. They’re not a great team.

They’ll still finish top 4/6, but they’re not a genuine flag threat. Any one of Brisbane, Hawthorn, GWS, probably a few others will torch them away from KP.

Four years after 2021, Dees have 15* premiership players playing tonight and they're 0-4

Four years after 2016 in 2020, our Round 4 side had 6 premiership players and we were 2-2.

Amazing our far they have fallen off. Also a reminder that sometimes moving those type of players off your list such as (at that point) Stringer, Dahlhaus, Biggs, Roberts ect is the best call.

They're hanging onto some cooked players.

But they recruited Smith. He puts the i in team.

I honestly can’t wait for him to be streaming through the middle of the ground in a big game where they’re a goal down, and he butchers the ball and turns it over.

I’m not normally so poisoned against a player, and I wouldn’t wish injury or any real hardship on anyone, but I’d be quite happy if his career was on a middling team for the next decade - while he watched his previous team win a flag or two.

15 isn't it?

May, Rivers, Petty, Salem, Petracca, Langdon, McDonald, Sparrow, Spargo, Fritsch, Gawn, Oliver, Viney, Bowen, Pickett

It's remarkable.

Is there a single Melbourne player from 2021 who is playing better or even at the same level now as they were then? I don't believe there's one (James Jordon and Neale-Bullen aside, but neither are there anymore). The collective drop off is quite impressive.

By my count 15 flag players out there tonight..

Nope. And some like Fritsch and Salem have dropped off the edge of a cliff.

Even if they went full rebuild, they’d only really get decent draft capital for Petracca, Pickett and maybe a couple of years of Gawn. They’d be holding on to Windsor and other young players obviously.

Surely Goodwin is let go this year and they go to the draft. But it is weird given their top end talent are still theoretically in their prime.

They don't have their first rounder

The Karma bus will get him. It's inevitable. And we all have a licence to smile when it does. No judgement....just enjoy.

Yes 15! forgot to check the interchange bench/sub. Truly remarkable. I doubt we even fielded 15+ premiership players once post 2017.
