Who gives a Rats A$$ they will read about in 50 year and will still be a Dogs flag and no one is going to remember who ran second! It’s gone further than Swan’s supporters though, it’s now just footy folk lore that we were gifted that flag.

I am convinced that these days it is still only a thing on Big Footy - I mix with many AFL fans from most clubs and nobody I know has ever questioned the validity of our 2016 premiership, let alone even brought up anything about the umpiring on the day. It’s gone further than Swan’s supporters though, it’s now just footy folk lore that we were gifted that flag.
Inclined to agree. Anyone I’ve spoken to since has been pleased for us, and often admiring.I am convinced that these days it is still only a thing on Big Footy - I mix with many AFL fans from most clubs and nobody I know has ever questioned the validity of our 2016 premiership, let alone even brought up anything about the umpiring on the day.
Definitely a Big Footy thing, IMO.I am convinced that these days it is still only a thing on Big Footy - I mix with many AFL fans from most clubs and nobody I know has ever questioned the validity of our 2016 premiership, let alone even brought up anything about the umpiring on the day.
There will be sore losers I just don't believe in giving them any oxygen. As they are all oxygen thieves, the best team on the day won.I care that they try to diminish a great achievement. One of the greatest finals series of all time.
Definitely a Big Footy thing, IMO.
A couple of years back, I spoke to the mother of a 2016 GF Swans player who said she (they) had no issue with the Dogs or with the GF result. Said she was surprised that I felt the need to ask about it.
We should all put the whining Swans on ignore. As Munnez said above....don't give them the oxygen they need to keep going. Ignore the bullshit and recognise it for what it is and don't respond. The media giving Longmire plenty of opportunity to air his grievances was and is unfair. Thankfully Bevo and the club have put them on Ignore.

One of my favourite quotes that I find suitable for so many situations. The 2016 Grand Final is certainly this. This is not just a BF thing, I see comments constantly to articles in the Hun. Today for example the article on giving the media immediate access to coaches someone said it’s a Bulldog thing The next comment was simply 2016*. Somehow it becomes about the Dogs.
I see comments regularly on X. As soon as someone mentions the Dogs or 2016 the pile on starts.
Yes, or never let the truth get in the way of a good story. Ho hum.One of my favourite quotes that I find suitable for so many situations. The 2016 Grand Final is certainly this.
Mark Twain said,“Give a man a reputation as an early riser and he can sleep 'til noon.” What he was saying is that a good narrative is more powerful than facts.

Anyway, some Saints news:
Its probably the same three Swans supporters I have on ignore. It seems to boil down to three BF Swans Supporters, who constantly go on about it. They need to sit down and watch the game again, because it has obviously built up in their minds to being way out of reality. Yes like all games, some frees were missed, both ways, but the ones they go on about were not in their forward line, so how do they think getting those frees would win them the game?
The GF that shocked me was the Richmond v Adelaide one, Adelaide got the pineapple end in the first half, which seemed to knock them around, but I haven’t seen that game for a few years, so would need to watch it again.
Kennedy was BOG by a mile in that first half.Swans were well on top in Q2 that day.
To move the needle, Bevo gives the hard job on Kennedy to Libba, and sends Boyd to Ruck basically full-time
Those moves made the difference.
In response, Longmire had nothing.
End of story.
Imagine the amount we owe them in back rent...Its probably the same three Swans supporters I have on ignore.
He did it for a half of a game once in nearly 10 years. I mean 'technically' he does tag, but for the 0.2% of the time he does, I think it is fair to say he doesn't really do it. I am sure there are a couple of times he has also done it, but in the scheme of things, he doesn't do it nearly enough to be a constant thing that can be relied upon or acknowledged as a legitimate tactic of his.Kennedy was BOG by a mile in that first half.
It's kind of weird hearing people say Bevo doesn't tag because Libba's job in the second half that day won us the flag.
Disagree completely. He did it for a half of a game once in nearly 10 years. I mean 'technically' he does tag, but for the 0.2% of the time he does, I think it is fair to say he doesn't really do it. I term tagging as a purely defensive role. I can't remember the last time we have ran someone in a purely defensive role on an opposition's best mid. To be fair though, I didn't see many games this year or last, as i've been in and out of the country.Disagree completely.
Wallis played a number of run with roles prior to reinventing himself as a forward.
Gags even got a role a few times last year. Baz did a number on Cripps the year prior.
We send someone to a gun opposition interceptor in most games too. Ask Sicily what he thinks of Rhylee West for example.

Redpath was a gentleman among a bunch of bogan thugs in that 74 series. Odd how the term Mankad came into being when Greg Chappell bailed an English batsman backing up without warning. Not technically footy talk, although he did play footy (and test cricket) as an amateur, but somehow I missed the passing of Ian Redpath. ☹
I was just re-reading about Redders, Stacky and Sheahan a week or so ago.
The first awareness I had of test cricket was the 74/75 Ashes, and Redders, Tangles and Ross Edwards were my instant favourites. (All unsung heroes and great team players, too.)
For anyone of my vintage, Redders was a vital member of the late 60s/early 70s test teams, especially of the Chappell teams in 74/75 and 75/76. He was vice-captain under both Chappells, and a Victorian legend.
Vale Ian Redpath.
