Does anyone else think the Australian Cricket team are in denial about its current list of players? Much like the Eagles were a few years ago in the AFL. I am predicting a massive rebuild required in the next 12 to 18 months.

That's pretty spot on. The worst thing to happen would be to keep playing Smith/Labuschagne and have them make a big score. Like Dom Sheed having a good game and a new contract on the back of it.

The players simply aren’t there to replace them.

Outside of perhaps one or two players at most (and it’s marginal if at all) this is the best team we’ve got and anyone that thinks otherwise knows nothing about Australian cricket.

Don’t think they’re necessarily in denial but it is going to be as grim a rebuild of the team we’ve seen since the 1980s. If I were George Bailey I wouldn’t have done anything different. The other guys in ‘contention’ for the test squad aren’t any good or are injured (noting Inglis is in the squad). Beau Webster might be the one exception but Marsh is far from the problem anyway.

I genuinely fear this is a deeper problem tbh where we’ve failed to develop any more than a handful of decent international cricketers in a decade and that doesn’t look like changing. Looks grim for the future IMHO.
