It’s a massive change over 40 years

The Tests ended and WSC tri series started and it was on for young and old

Such a pity that it just evaporated away seemingly overlooked

80,000 at G, watching Viv, Dean, Bevan with a Styrofoam esky full of VB

Old man Kraks would tell me stories of downing Eskies full while watching Chappellis, Marsh and Lillee at Adel oval

Kind of miss the older VB trilateral ODI series. It gave chances to some of the smaller test playing nations (Zimbabwe/NZ/Sri Lanka, etc) and some needed extra exposure and games against the best. Not to mention some really good neutral matches.

Well done to Webster on debut, ticked every box, bowling, batting, fielding, and performing under a bit of pressure :whitecheck::whitecheck::whitecheck::whitecheck:
Looked the best of our batsmen today. I wasn't able to watch any of day 1 or 2 but was hugely impressed with Webster's composure and technique in a pressure situation.

Over the next few years there’ll be generational talents from aus , India and poms retiring - there’ll be huge shift in the game for the next group of superstars.
The poms are a pretty young side and started their rebuild 12 months ago. Its only really Stokes that is on the older side with a couple of years left maybe. Root will probably go on another 5 years at least and break Tendulkars record . India and Australia really need to rebuild now or do the Aussies wait to after the ashes.

Despite what some want, reckon the Ashes is where we rebuild
Probably will say goodbye to a few players like in 2006/07

Need to introduce some new players Vs sri lanka

In all fairness Bumrah was a massive loss in this test. Cant really be understated. Probably the difference in the end but you can only beat who is on the field. Would have loved to see him play a full role to see though.
I'm somewhat sad that he didn't bowl in the second innings. It might have been a more eventful finish (or even a worse result), but it felt like Aus was just going to win the whole time knowing he wasn't going to take any further part.

Them's the breaks.

We had a paralytic Starc.

Well done lads, on some testing pitches, we won the trophy back, after what happened in Perth, it was a great way to respond, great interview by Jasprit Bumrah and a huge loss but that's the way the mop flops, he's 31 and the injuries are catching up with him, they have a couple of good youngsters but when Bumrah retires they are going to be in a world of hurt.

It can be very hard breaking a successful team up but with the the next couple of tests coming up we need to introduce a couple younger players slowly, give them a taste, if we wait to long because we are winning, history will repeat itself, we can't make that mistake again.

So thats a 3-0 loss to NZ in their home conditions and now a 3-1 loss to an ageing but still pretty good home team in Australia. India are struggling badly but with their talent at their disposal they should recover quickly once they move on the ageing stars. Be interesting to see what changes they make against England in England in 6 months time.

We don’t know what the medical issue is but it would be interesting if it had anything to do with being overbowled, after it took them until the last test to give him good support. Especially interesting to consider workload after Cummins was criticised for leaving the Melbourne declaration later than most expected to give himself and the other bowlers as much of a break as possible, and Stark was able to back up then and in Sydney despite a reported strain.
