You would think that it was going to be a Hurstbridge and Bundoora Grand Final coming up.
Just tongue in cheek. They do do a fantastic job.
I will be that guy, they can make this show so much better by removing a lot of the insignificant chatter about basically nothing.

Focus it more on the footy and objective opinion and you may end up w the best local footy show going.

Happy R1 eve for those who celebrate. Pity about the weather but geez it's nice to have some local footy back.

Reserves footy overall in trouble. Quite a few D1 sides not naming full benches and it’s Rd1 when usually big numbers available.

This is an issue that needs more attention, I think. I agree reserves concept is in massive trouble.

I don't have the answers but for the past few years we have seen walkovers, teams of 16, teams starting with 20 but ending with 14.....

Is this an issue with other leagues?

Are players just done sacrificing time and effort (and injury that can cost jobs and health) to play magoos?

I think we will see this issue get a lot worse before it gets better. I am sure many don't see this issue, but I can assure you if you watch the numbers as we get into the year you will see its an issue.

Will we see the reserves become its own competition like the U19s? (ie not aligned to playing before seniors (this would be a travesty) due to some clubs not being able to field sides.

Do we need to look at U19s (personally I think it should be aligned better with state competition like U18s then maybe more could be available for reserves, maybe the reserves just becomes what many (most) have started calling their teams, Development (whatever that means when we see 40 year olds and blokes getting calls at 9pm Fri nights....not sure what they are developing....)

This is not an urgent, end of the world is coming now issue, but I feel over the past few years it has got worse and will be an unfixable issue if not looked at by all clubs and the league.

North and Bundoora lacking some serious depth this year. Bundoora especially with only 37 players on the senior list

Actually, was told there was a reserves player at Bundoora today that may have been phoned up recently to play that asked an opposition player what division they are playing.

That 37 could become 27 soon, was a few U19s that had copped a lesson earlier in the day (by 106 points) have to drive down Plenty Rd in their gear to back up and cop another belting (137 points) in the reserves. Cannot be good for moral losing by 243 points in one day in round 1.

I’m still working out why their 19s are in D2

A general observation, depth of numbers in reserves doesn't seem to be an issue for the clubs that build good environments and culture - the clubs that end up struggling for numbers never really surprise me, often a direct correlation with a senior team stacked with highly paid mercenary types.

Good people vs good footballers.

I was offered so much money first hand to play at several clubs all across Melbourne but chose to stay at panther. I’ve always chose loyalty over success rather than win a flag at a random club.
Is that true? ‘So much money’ … There’s only one true, loyal legend at Panther and that’s Ernie Burger. You’ll never be on his level. Sit down.
