Would only be competitive if all aligned VFL clubs released their Heidelberg players back for the practice match - seems unlikely, but would be interesting to see how it goes.
Pretty sure Coburg had a preseason game against Bundoora a a few seasons back

It's like saying Werribee would hold their own against West Coast. It wouldn't happen

It's not like that at all. VFLs not a professional league. They train the same amount that NFL sides do, with maybe a reocvery session on top of it.

The bigger bodies at Heidelberg would pose a huge issue for the kids running around at Coburg trying to get drafted. How many of Heidelberg's team have already played VFL and are now in their prime at Heidelberg? Not to mention Wilson winning a VFL best and fairest in a team that was way better than Coburg.

Wilson is definitely a gun

Great article in the HUN (Under Local footy) listing all the new recruits for NFNL clubs.
In DIV 1 the most impressive quality recruiting IMO has been from Heidelberg (cause they need it LOL), Hurstbridge and West Preston - A few numbers from Bundy but the quality is going with these 3 IMO.
Other DIV's teams are definitely getting players into the NFL which is great - Kilmore, Fitzroy etc

With a bit of chat about Heidelberg playing VFL teams, what a great concept this was back in 1992. To bad it only lasted 1 year, and $33k would probably be around $75k today. That would certainly generate a lot of interest.

INTRODUCTION

In March 1992 the VSFL (Victoria's newly-formed governing football body) held the inaugural Premier's Cup
which featured the reigning premiership-winning teams from the leading metropolitan and regional leagues
across Victoria.

The strongest leagues (the VFA and the VAFA) were allowed to field two teams while the other leagues only had
a single team involved. The winning club collected $33,000 prizemoney provided by the Victorian State
Government and the best player in the final received the Jack Dyer Medal.

VFA club Werribee won the inaugural series and Werribee's Darren Morgan claimed the Jack Dyer Medal.

The Premier's Cup competition had been planned as an annual event but the 1992 tournament was the only
series ever held.

MATCH RESULTS

Dandenong, the reigning-VFA premiers, battled through their opening match against Traralgon, then scraped home by 4 points against the VAFA's premier team, De La Salle.

Werribee had a much easier run through the early rounds, defeating South Bendigo by 68 points then crushing Bell Park by 97 points

The semi final was a re-match of the 1991 VFA Grand Final which Dandenong had won by 9 points. This time Werribee were never troubled as they gained revenge for that loss, defeating Dandenong by 80 points.

The final was played at the MCG on March 28 as a curtain-raiser for the AFL's Round 2 Melbourne vs Geelong match. North Ballarat were led by ex-Carlton premiership player, Jim Buckley and Werribee were coached by former Fitzroy rover, Leon Harris. Werribee cruised to the title, scoring 13 goals in the final quarter to record a 114 point victory.

The whole purpose of it was so Coburg could have some match fitness as they were given a bye in round one that season
Probably lucky they had the bye I guess

CONGRATULATIONS to the Dattoli family on Jesse being drafted tonight. What a year the family has had.
If you were to look at Heidelberg FC and Heidelberg JFC social media pages regarding Dattoli, then you would think he was a 150 game player.
Never played 1 game with Heidelberg, premiership player and B and F winner at Ivanhoe JFC. Astounding how they can claim him!
