So Tomasiello who played in this year's reserves p/ship won't be able to play under the new rules. Played majority at H'Berg seniors and reserves and a few at the Pies. New rule may need an amendment.
This is an example where he may get picked and the non-VFL player may get dropped to the twos IF they are like for like so too speak.

All that said, if Tomasiello would like to make sure he does not miss out (IF we make finals), then I will speak to the guys at our club as I am sure they could find a space for him

VFL Players in Reserves Finals
New
12.1.7
Senior Men
Any VFL listed player in that competition year is not permitted to play in NFNL Reserves Finals, even if the club fields multiple teams on the same finals weekend.
This addresses concerns about VFL-listed players in Reserves finals, ensuring fairness and protecting the integrity of the Reserves finals series.

baggersforflaggers - No, judging by the above.

My understanding is that the league would like to change the criteria to 4 games but don’t want to be out of step with other leagues. There intention is to lobby AFL victoria / and other leagues to bring everyone in line

Think that probably demonstrates the positives of the rule. If you got vfl listed players playing ressies, you got too many vfl listed players. It will play a role in player movement.

Coburg would win by 10 goals +. People underestimate the gap between local footy and VFL
In your dreams
Who was the last genuine meaning 40 games, Heidelberg junior to play an AFL game?
Trent Hoppner played a few jn about 98.
Trent never played a senior match at Heidelberg .Was a gun junior and went direct to the Knights ( captained them ) and played one AFL match for Carlton . Regular shoulder injuries ended his playing career . Didn't play after Carlton

I had a beer with the HFC crew last night , they’re very appreciative of the example you came up with here, they said they hadn’t thought of that and it will come in handy (IF they make finals ) next year.
Also an example of how NOT to approach a player, Don’t say ( IF we make finals) 😉

I'm sure they would have been happy to see you AND the brains trust at the Bergs would be all over every eventuality I'd suggest 👍

As for a player approach, some clubs can only go with that at the moment - us included. But I did hear that they are doing ok on the recruitment front for next year and confident of a few more. But just pub talk 😎

Has South Morang recruited? Or are they just going to hope what they have can keep them up?
Haven't recruited much at all by the looks of things, looks like they are underestimating the jump. At this rate they will be lucky to beat anyone other than Bundoora, even Bundoora not a certainty.

definitely underestimating the jump, they do not have div 1 cavalry and when their two VFL players are out good luck to em

Where is that info from? I can’t imagine it would be easy recruiting players when you’ve just got promotion and chances are you’ll be in the bottom 3.

No reason they can’t be as competitive as Eltham was this year.

Eltham were a far better side and ready to go up, probably 2 years overdue at least. Morang deserved it in the end but doubt they were prepared to make the jump this quickly. Huge difference.
