On what basis?

He’s a dime a dozen half back/wingman that averages 15 touches a game in the easiest role in football. Tried and failed when tried in the middle too.

Jordan Dawson was 5 x the footballer, had just finished right up there in Sydney’s B&F and went for a future 1st that was expected to be end of rnd 1.

Early R2 might be generous for Bergman these days, he’s nothing special.

He’s had what 5-10 coaches votes in the last 30 games? Probably confused with JHF like the umpires…

What was Duursma traded for?
You have clearly not watched Bergman play much at all.

If you are going to go at a player and shit can them at least be informed.

Although he has played those roles before

He's settled as more of a 3rd tall defender, similar to Stewart/Michalhaney/Battle who can play on smaller/larger opponents. He's not a half back flanker, nor a wingman. So quoting his disposal count is just a poor reflection of his ability

He has never been trialled as a midfielder, as far as I'm aware

I don't think Bergman and NWM are comparable players in terms of role, the only reason they are being compared is because they are both rumoured to be leaving clubs that might be interested the other player.

Yeah sorry gents.

A guy that averages more rebound 50’s than Farrell and Burton, is about 8th at your club for average spoils, kicks the ball inside 50 more than Joe Richards and Willie Rioli and averages about half the interceptions possessions, intercept marks, spoils and 1 vs 1 contests of those players is just Tom Stewart with a haircut. He’s not a half back, apologies.

Odd stats for a wingman no?

Yeah all this stat talk makes me think that you really haven't watched him play

It's clear why both SA teams are into NWM, but I'm interested to hear from Power supporters, do you think you can afford to pay the price?

I don't get to watch as much footy as I'd like but working in a industry dominated by power supporters, the general consensus around me is the lack of depth will catch up this year and they'll slide (some think the need for a full-blown rebuild is barely papered over). If it's time to hit the draft, do you think the price to get him over (either in picks, or players with sufficient draft value to be of interest to the Saints) will end up setting you guys back further in the medium term, especially with Tas around the corner?

This description of Miles Bergman is highly inaccurate

He is a good player and better than dime a dozen. Not as good as Houston though. What did Houston go for? Late first plus a 24 yr old role player.

So maybe a pick 18-25 for Bergman type range?

That seems about right for Bergman, maybe slightly higher if a club holds a late first.

Any suggestions from Port fans that he's worth a top 10 pick is ridiculous in my opinion.

He's a good footballer. Very good one on one, good speed, ok intercept mark, but he doesn't get a heap of footy and his kicking is messy. Needs to learn to lower his eyes a little.

We can't go by what Houston went for, as everyone knows, we got screwed in that trade and it was not market value

I think Bergman was taken at around pick 14. I think he's more than done enough to justify that selection

A mid-late 1st round is about fair in my opinion.

A 2nd rounder is way unders

Jordan Dawson was around pick 15. Unless you are a top end KPP or gun mid it’s hard to get high picks. Especially out of contract

However if the team he chooses has pick 8-12 then could probably make something happen with a second going back maybe. Single digit seems very high though given he wouldn’t be in the best 10 half backs in the league, albeit a good player

Dawson for 15 was universally seen as unders.

He was initially a pick 11 and has 3 years of development in him and has proven to be an emerging gun, so I'd be disappointed with anything lower than that. I'm also interested in the 10 half backs you have over him - right now I'd only say Sinclair, Zorko and Whitfield are better. Fantasy data would back me up on that

If the crows are up near the pointy end of the ladder this year, he would be the right sort of addition for a flag push so if we offered up this years and next years 1sts with say an f2 coming back, that would be fine by me
