Freeman was limping the game before his incident in the shower so I think he will be managed for the rest of the season.

Another injury to a quality bat and suddenly the Dodgers won't look as invincible.

Important to get wins early before all the session niggles begin especially with the Padres already heavily breathing down our necks.

The Atlanta Braves announced that RHP Jesse Chavez elected free agency after clearing outright waivers after being designated for assignment. However, it is certainly possible that Chavez will sign again with the Braves at some stage this season on a minor league contract, as he has signed four separate contracts with Atlanta over the past four seasons. Chavez pitched for Atlanta earlier this week, throwing two innings of work, and was therefore not available to pitch for a day or two, and Atlanta needed space in its bullpen for Zach Thompson.

The Braves also announced that they have acquired catcher Jason Delay from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for cash considerations. Delay has been sent to Double-A Columbus. The Braves put RHP Reynaldo Lopez on the 60-day IL to open a spot on the 40-man roster.

The Seattle Mariners are sending uniform manufacturers into a bit of a tailspin as they have sent RHP Luis F. Castillo to the mound to start their upcoming game against the Giants, after Luis Castillo started the game against the Tigers yesterday.

Luis F. Castillo will make his first career MLB start after pitching on three occasions in relief with the Detroit Tigers in 2022. The Tigers received 3 2/3 scoreless innings from Castillo, but they outrighted him off the roster at the end of the 2022 season, and Castillo wound up signing a contract with the Chiba Lotte Marines in the NPB for 2023. He stayed in Japan for 2024, signing a contract with the Orix Buffaloes and pitching 94 1/3 innings as a starter with 2.96 ERA. Castillo parlayed that into a minor league contract with the Mariners in January 2025, and pitched 5 2/3 innings in his first Triple-A start on Sunday, allowing one earned run on two hits and a pair of walks.

The New York Mets have been busy signing players. They announced that they have signed 1B Jon Singleton and infielder Niko Goodrum to minor league contracts, while they also added (but did not announce) RHP Jose Marte to a minor league contract, according to his transactions tracker. Marte is unlikely to pitch at all this season, and consequently signed a two year contract with the Mets, as he recovers from shoulder surgery.

The Chicago White Sox have signed OF Joshua Palacios to a minor league contract after he elected free agency rather than accept an outright assignment from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Palacios has had an itinerant career recently, having played for the Blue Jays, the Nationals and the Pirates in the last four seasons. He has 433 plate appearances in his major league career for a .230/.286/.364 slashline, which is worth 75 wRC+. This contrasts to his minor league results, where he has hit .303/.387/.484 in 781 minor league plate appearances, for a 131 wRC+.

How bad is the ALC off too … 2-4 leads the division!
My Cubs about to run into the Padres buzz saw.
Hopefully Tucker stays hot for us to give us a shot at a series win

Lost today 8-7. Trailed 3-0 in the first, end the first leading 5-3, led 7-3 at one stage. Disappointing loss in the end.

It would have been great to sweep the Padres.

Two of the runs were via balks, so that was funny at least. :D

According to one report, there is no deferred money in the contract Guerrero Jr has agreed to sign with the Blue Jays, making it the second-largest deal in MLB history by net present value behind that of Juan Soto.

14 years is crazy

It'll age poorly very quickly, but the Blue Jays are owned by Rogers Communications, which is a behemoth Canadian company, apparently, so they have the money. I think the Blue Jays are sick of striking out on signing big free agents every year, and by signing Vladdy to a long-term extension, they're hoping that they can demonstrate their seriousness to the next big free agent (Kyle Tucker?).

The White Sox and the Cubs each hold club options over Luis Robert Jr and Shota Imanaga respectively. It's highly likely that Robert gets traded by the deadline. The club option is worth $20 million, so he'd need to produce before being traded and then continue to produce after the trade in order for a club to pick up that option for 2026, but if he hits like he did in 2024 (not well), then he'd likely become a free agent.

The Cubs would need to decide whether to pick up an option to guarantee Imanaga $57 million across 2026-2028 (covering his age 32-34 seasons). If the Cubs decline their side of the option, then Imanaga has a pair of player options for 2026 and 2027 worth $15 million each year.

The Milwaukee Brewers and Boston Red Sox announced a trade whereby the Brewers acquire RHP Quinn Priester from Boston in exchange for prospect Yophery Rodriguez, a Competitive Balance Round A draft pick in this year's draft and a player to be named later or cash considerations. The Brewers created roster space for Priester by designating LHP Grant Wolfram for assignment and then trading him to the Orioles.

Priester was originally drafted by the Pirates in the first round of the 2019 draft (18th overall). He was ranked inside the top 100 prospects as recently as 2023, but the Pirates traded Priester to the Red Sox at the trade deadline last year in exchange for Nick Yorke.

Despite his background, Priester is yet to find much success at the MLB level. In the majors, Priester has 99 2/3 innings of work for a 6.23 ERA, with a 15.2% strikeout rate and a 9% walk rate.

As noted above, to create roster space for Priester, the Brewers traded LHP Grant Wolfram to the Orioles. The Brewers received minor league outfielder Daz Cameron and cash. The Orioles put Albert Suarez on the 60-day IL to create roster space for Wolfram on the 40-man roster. Wolfram is yet to make his MLB debut, having pitched in the Rangers minor league teams between 2018-2024. He qualified for minor league free agency at the end of the 2024 season and signed a minor league contract with the Brewers last off-season. The Brewers actually called up Wolfram to their major league roster but he did not pitch before the Brewers designated him for assignment.

Daz Cameron was not on the Orioles 40 man roster so a roster move is not required by the Brewers. Cameron, the son of former major league player, Mike Cameron, played for the Oakland Athletics in 2024 and hit .200/.258/.329 in 186 plate appearances, consistent with his career slashline of .201/.263/.330 over parts of four seasons.

Nelsy Cruz is Nelson Cruz's sister. Ms Curz was the governor of the Dominican Republic province of Montecristi. It appears that 98 people have died as a result of the incident according to reports from a few hours ago.

Octavio Dotel was pulled from the wreckage alive, but died on the way to hospital.
