Awful collar/fit/template.

The one thing I hate more than the white kit itself is this navy 'tertiary colour' - vertical strip, swoosh and sponsor. Surely, the only thing worse than incorporating sky blue was complementing it with the navy of Sydney and Victory. It isn't even a City colour.

I know it's a City kit, but that was worn with navy shorts and socks, and with these subtle differences as Gibbsy said - they've consciously kept it in the shirt, but why?!

It looks more like part of Sydney's kitbag (or Victory's on last year's form), than even a shirt that was sky blue with red trimmings. This is the danger I alluded to in a post a few months ago about the effect of secondary colours, beyond the inevitable inclusion of sky.

If you asked a young kid at the local club what Melbourne City's colours were, he would be saying sky blue and navy. Terrible.

Again, the treatment of Melbourne City as a brand as opposed to New York City has been embarrassing. Thank god we have NY's marquee signings for 10 games to make us feel like we have a dignified league.

Happy with the dominant white kit, I just wish we wore red shorts for the away

agree. i really can't see the point of that alternate kit with white shorts. the front of the kit in particular seems just as white as the primary kit, apart for a few red stripes.

Furthermore, the shirt would look much better if it had a smaller number patch rather than the complete red upper half of a shirt. The AFL style back makes the shirt look different from itself front and back, like Collingwood's jumper which is predominantly white on the front and black on the back.

Most Sydney fans are happy with the compromise. City's is a white kit despite the sky blue trim.

BTW, Sydney are releasing a new shirt in the next few days. Expect the removal of the unpopular navy V block and the pop collar too. it'll be even more sky blue in terms of minimal trim on the body of the shirt I believe. here is the back of it.

Ideally, the club will dump the navy shorts for white, but this might be a wish to great.

White name and number on sky blue is so stupid. Why does the A-League only have black and white numbers? Surely they could match them with the clubs' colours.

This.

I hate the A-League name and number font too.

Sponsor arrangement on those shorts make me think they're being worn backwards...
You can barely see it, but on the other thigh, there is the city logo and nike logo.

Funny how they got the new Brisbane logo right but somehow screwed up City's. That being said I don't mind if they use it, may the Heart live on!

They didn't though – see Andonis1997 !

I know this is a massive bump (sorry mods!), but I just remembered a while back I actually had an account on here. Completely forgot what the username and everything was. I think I buggered off because people thought I was another poster who got banned or something, haha.
Even with the photo evidence you posted? :D

The guy in question, lmach, is still here. Well he doesn't post here often any more which is mildly upsetting but he's still on BigFooty.

That's right! In hindsight, I should have been honoured given lmach's design prowess (i.e. The West Coast rebrand)
