Really? I thought Foxtel were keeping the HBO stuff. That sucks.
I think thats why they are providing the free basic Max service for all residential foxtel customers, so HD and ads version (which i think is $8 a month normally).

This is off the Foxtel website:

HBO content will be moving from the Foxtel platform to the Max streaming app on 31 March 2025. We'll still have a selection of HBO titles available on Foxtel.

With Max included in your Foxtel subscription* at no additional cost, you’ll be able to continue watching your favourite HBO shows and so much more! This means from 31 March, instead of finding HBO shows on a dedicated channel, you’ll access them through the Max app on your internet connected iQ3, iQ4 or iQ5* set top box. It’s the same great content, plus, you’ll have access to additional Warner Bros., The DC Universe, Harry Potter, Discovery and HBO content on Max!

It appears that Max Basic (HD only with ads) will only be available to those with IQ set-top boxes and not on Binge or Foxtel Now/Go. Those who have internet-only apps, such as Binge, might be able to confirm this for us.

yeah stuff like this usually has the IQ set-top box fineprint (bit like Telstra devices, Apple devices, all those set-up catches)

I focused my Foxtel viewing on a fair bit of HBO content since New Years because a lot of it was likely to be gone for Foxtel Now/Go streamers (who never had it in the cable/satellite days). Through the internet side you can specifically see when each on demand item is set to leave the service. The ongoing seasons are still there but everything else HBO is gone as expected. Foxtel appears to have brought in that new Aussie Films channel a few days prior as a stop-gap (although almost all those are available on various other services, hardly compensates).

I got the premium package and watched an episode of The Pitt (which is great) and I was pleased with the quality of the 4K stream. Shits all over Foxtel's "alleged" 4K streams.
If youre watching 4K content its worth downloading the app on the actual tv instead of using it through the foxtel IQ as Foxtel doesnt support HDR 10 or Dolby Vision

Yep, already done that. Cheers :thumbsu:

Early days but the quality of the streams on Max is a significant step up from Binge.

I love HBO and all its sports docus, especially the on going Celtics City.

If you can afford it (I got the standard package 17 dollars a month without ads and in HD quality) it's a significant upgrade from Binge.

HOLY **** the streaming quality. Watching the White Lotus and its insane
Yeah, the Max that comes free with Foxtel IQ (it doesn't come with Binge or any of their streaming apps) is only Max's basic package, being HD-only and with ads.

I can tell you the 4K quality on Max's premium package is spectacular.
