At the request of Cudi, could all BF followers of the MFC variety stop posting anything about the club of a positive nature.

See you all in April. :thumbsu:

The cricket looks good : )

When was the earliest he outlined his gameplan Dee?
First practise matches in 2008 when he had us playing run and carry. We couldn't even win a quarter of football, let alone a game. It was the same gameplan that got Daniher fired in 2007.

I was a critic of Bailey from the minute he outlined his gameplan. We didn't have the players to make it work, and after wasting 4 years training the players on his gameplan, it became redundent.

He had a game plan.

Nice bit of revisionism ..

Not too many were complaining about Bailey at the end of 2009 season. Just outside the 8, a couple of good wins (and losses) against top sides, the young guys coming on ... blah blah blah. There was lots to be positive about, and many were, including even opposition supporters - Melb regularly scored well in the "teams to watch" polls before the 2011 season.

That he/they/we couldn't go on with it is now in the past, but let's not all pretend that we saw it coming.

Revisionism is one thing, untruths are another. Who were the good wins against top teams in 2009? You were one of the delusional ones who had blind faith in Bailey.

The last 3 games of 2009 were all winnable (North, Hawthorn, Port), and would have given us a chance to make the eight. For a change, Bailey was coaching in meaningful games, and unsurprisingly he failed. My confidence in Bailey was zilch, so I backed the opposition in each of these games. Best 3 weeks on the punt I've ever had.

And what's more, ever since Bailey took over Hawthorn have grabbed a massive psychological edge against us - we either get our arse kicked or we don't lose by much, but only because Hawthorn didn't take their opportunities. I'm always shit scared what will happen when we play the Hawks. When we played the Hawks under Daniher we were generally competitive and normally beat them, but not under Bailey...

I was underwhelmed with Bailey right from the start, after that I went into a bit of a decline...

He never even looked like he could instil discipline or belief into the club, and the less said about his tactics the better. Really nice bloke though, hilarious on Before the Game.

Pardon my intrusion guys.

You're right on both grounds with Neeld. Reckon you have good reason for optimism as he's coached successfully in his own right and is highly regarded at both the Cats and Maggies. In fact, we tried hard to get him back as a senior assistant this year but the Maggies wouldn't budge on his contract.

But the real test is in the heat of the kitchen. That's when all will be told. And remember, the guy at the forefront of picking Bailey is the same person at the forefront of getting Neeld. Just saying........;)

My post had nothing to do with Bailey or the team per se, it was in regard to the large number of posters who now claim that they saw it coming.

However, I'm a year out, I meant 2010. I'm so keen to put this season in the distant past, that I lost a year. My bad.

Roll on next year. (That would be season 2012 for those of us having trouble keeping up ...)

in all seriousness, thank you neeld for bringing in a decent tall forwards and getting training standards up to scratch. that is all

No doubt he wrote that reply because he saw the opportunity to do just that - create some excitement among the fans. And it's done just that!

How wrong we were, dcrock, how wrong we were.

Yeah, I was initially sucked in by Bailey. At his 1st presser he outlined that we'd be mad not to utilise our marking strength up forward (Neitz, Holland, Robbo). Then he adopts a gameplan that does the opposite.

Somehow I think that Neeld has greater strength of conviction than Bailey, and won't use "development" as an excuse for poor results. He'll be results driven, and won't babble on about "winning quarters" or "being competitive".

Unlike others, I believe that the pre-season games will be a good barometer as to the impact that Neeld has had on the team.

I'm very amused.

But but but... What about getting games into kids, winning quarters and being competitive??

I heart Neeld sooooo much right now.

What about them?

We want to believe the best in a any new coach. No shame in that, bit embarrassing to look back on in retrospect.

I wonder if Neeld's goal early in his tenure would be to win the NAB Cup? Not that I care but it will be very interesting to see what his intentions are - will he make a stand with this club?

I'm loving Mark so far.

Yup, I did well here. Requirement of five wins to win the NAB Cup, Neeld won five out of 33 as a senior coach.

I done goofed.

No need to re live the past.

I'm sure we all had good things to say about Neeld & in hindsight we can see that it hasn't worked out.
