To be fair to the AFL, they've gifted Carlton one of the easiest draws known to mankind and Carlton, like they always do, keep tripping over themselves. The AFL must be at its wits end.

What's the bet there'll be some kind of trade off that the AFL uses Sayers Consulting or whatever his company is now called as part of this agreed "resignation"?

The fact AFR has referenced him as Mr Teflon on a few occasions now IMO proves that he's as shady as they get.

Remember when he and his wife accepted bucket loads of grease to use the charity organisation they were in charge of (guide dogs Victoria) to promote a political candidate. Wowee, that was all kinds of illegal.
Imagine if they had of pulled this crim up on any of his past transgressions. We may have avoided the dick pic shit altogether. But I guess punitive corrections are reserved only for the poor and disenfranchised in this country.

The wording of the AFL's conclusion sure reads like they're asserting it was someone very close to Sayers who did it, rather than some unnamed Moldovan cybercrime warlord.

"Compromised" rather than hacked. No mention of police involvement. The "unwittingly tagged" executive. They're deliberately vague about anything that they've done to investigate, besides conducting interviews. Sure sounds to me like they've left one or two stones unturned.

The Integrity Unit’s inquiries, which included multiple interviews and review of other evidence, have now concluded and the AFL has found, based on the available evidence, that access to Mr Sayers’ X account was compromised, resulting in the posting of the image (i.e. by a person not being Mr Sayers) and tagging of another person.

“Accordingly, the AFL has determined that Mr Sayers did not breach AFL Rules in connection with the posting of the image.

“Once he was made aware of the post, Mr Sayers immediately acted to have the image removed and to shut down his X account.

“The AFL wishes to thank the executive who was unwittingly tagged in the post – her co-operation and assistance throughout the inquiries have been extremely helpful.”

EDIT: oh yes and I'm surprised the Integrity Unit didn't also sincerely thank Sayers for his immediate action to remove the image. What a hero. That's certainly not the precise thing you'd expect a guilty person to do in a blind panic.

For anyone wondering "Wow this guy seems like an absolute idiot. How did this slimy little arsewipe ever rise to heading PWC and the Carlton Football Club?" well, part of it is the lack of conscience, the righteous indignation, the willingness to be a campaigner. There's a couple of scenarios of how this has happened and none of them include Sayers being squeaky clean.

The conflict of interest issues should be looked at on both sides. I know where I work, anything that could even be PERCEIVED to be a conflict of interest needs to be carefully managed and generally avoided if practical. Bupa and Carlton may have different standards though.

Sure, but there's a lot more to play out here, whether it's kept private or not. Both with the Sayers' personal circumstances and Bupa's partnership with Carlton.

On the latter, it's a really interesting scenario: whether Bupa cancels its partnership with Carlton and what action (if any) is taken against the employee. Whether she was carrying on a relationship with him or not, it would have to be a pretty difficult place to work for her now that all her colleagues know.

Interesting if she was promoting the commercial benefits of the partnership back to Bupa while also rooting Sayers.

Also interesting if they check her diary to see how many work "meetings" she had with Sayers.
