OhHeh - should be self explanatory.
A fool and their money are soon departed.
Don't let your hatred for a team hurt your bank balance.
After 0-5 they won 13 of 16 including beating the premiers!! That's massive and have added Barrass and Battle.
How? Pleas enlighten us on Ken's masterplan, because 4 months ago it was because Ginni commented on a photoAnd a fool thinks improvement is linear in the AFL.
No doubt they went under the radar in 2024 and had an easier draw than 2025.
Port showed every other team how to counter Mitchell's new tricks.
Hawks had a good year in 2024 no doubts. It doesn't automatically mean they keep improving like many simply assume it will.
Thanks for that
Doesn't make our top 6 mids, but thanks
But i was referring to the reasons
Oh dont get it twistedLdu
Wardlaw
Sheezel
Powell
Simpkin
Parker
With Kerch and fos waiting in the wings
Urquhart likely to rapidly overtake him too given his strong running ability.
Unfortunately for Phillips he’s not in our top 6 either.
That said apparently he’s taken big strides in improving his running which is what’s been holding him back
Oh dont get it twisted
I dont think he is in yours either
Im sure he isI realise that. Just pointing out that he’s up against it.
But I’ve got my fingers crossed as he’s a great kid
Like the optimism but I don't think Phillips will make it anywhere near 200 games. Will is on one year deal now, and we're not short of high quality mids.
He was extremely unlucky with the start of his career being COVID lockdowns in his final juniour years, then he got COVID and glandular himself which really knocked him round, especially his base running fitness.
He also came into a super chaotic North with multiple coaches etc.
But he's put in TONS of work and got himself really fit and while I reckon we will re-sign him if he plays consistent footy, there's a good opportunity for a club to swoop and get a high quality 200 game mid if say, we only offer one with a trigger for two or similar.
He was pick 3 for a reason.
You hear that at a seance?According to his father;
The Cats are very keen on him, but thinks he’ll stay at North
On a more serious note about it I think what Geelong did seemed pretty effective in using the numbers to bury you at half back flank. You never seemed to put numbers out the fat side to provide a switch, instead favouring movement along the wing or at best wing side of the corridor, and so we didn't bother covering it. Your game never really got going. How? Pleas enlighten us on Ken's masterplan, because 4 months ago it was because Ginni commented on a photo
Or was it Have us miss 3 late set shots?'
Hilarious

Obviously sides adapt though so who knows what 2025 brings. I didn't watch a tonne of Hawks games after that one so unsure if it was a regular theme past that point either.

yeah width of ground didn't help you but all you had to there was move your numbers slightly out into the corridor and it's offset. You didn't have anyone at all set up to switch most of the time so you wouldn't have robbed space from anyone.Games we struggled at post the 0-5
Narrow grounds

Lol Hinkley the new master coach!! They lost by 3 points to the team that finished 2nd - in South Australia and added 1 gun and 1 very good player. And a fool thinks improvement is linear in the AFL.

You mention common sense but can't use anyHawks fans such as yourself are hilarious IMO. Mention a bit of common sense and out you trot waving pitch forks and shouting at clouds. Lol.
You act like your team is entitled to just keep improving and other teams can't and won't improve.
Game plans get found out and countered. Hawks rolled out something new and it took a season for the opposition to counter. Plenty of time for other teams to watch and learn from those who did.
It happens every year.
Just respondingTake it to one of the hawk wank threads gents

It’s why they are 2nd fav for the flag. But sell your house and plonk it on them to miss the 8 - $3.80 must be appealing if they are no good.
The fact that you couldn't name the other midfielder who was top 25 in the comp for clearances last year shows your lack of knowledge , HilariousNewcombe

There is a reason the Hawks midfield is ranked 8th.
.
Clearances are a weakness.
Cut down their scoring from turnovers and rebounding and you win.
Top sides do that. Bottom sides struggle to. 2024 was a easier draw and their new game plan caught many off guard.
Much harder draw.
Bottom sides are also improving.
Teams have had a year to study and counter the Hawks new style. So will be better prepared.
So its not all blue sky and candy canes. Hawks will need to improve over 2024 to make top 4.
For all the reasons above.
What is unreasonable about any of that? This is a seriously tough game and competition.
And no mention of injuries to key players and depth.

This isn't the thread for this discussion, but from a coaching/tactical point of view how teams respond to Hawthorn's game plan will be one of the more interesting things to watch next season. Some teams will copy it, others will try and negate it, Hawthorn will try and develop it. Surprised there hasn't been more discussion of this. One of you should start a thread about it.Games we struggled at post the 0-5
