Another unprecented destructive fire, another day of pitiful climate action as the world goes past 1.5°C rise in temperature for the first time.

There is no mention of an inability to see consequenses of actions as part of the DSM criteria for pyromania. Maybe there are others that are obsessed with stealing cars, robbing, taking things etc.

I don't think the LA or California fire departments own any saltwater capable fire fighting aircraft but Canada sent a couple of Super Scoopers down to help out. They can refill in the nearby ocean with a 10 minute turnaround whereas other planes need to go to an airport.

Cal Fire has its own fleet of aircraft operating from 14 airfields and 11 helicopter bases across the state that can reach most fires within about 20 minutes.

Adding nothing to the discussion here, however few weeks ago playing golf at Sun City, fires were going north of Yanchep. Helicopters coming in drawing water from the golf course lake between the 10th and 18th holes. Just had to move to the bush and off the fairway for the minute or so it took them to come in and get going.

More strong wind predicted for Tuesday.
Gavin "LA 2.0" Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass have proven unquestionably what incompetence really means. LA will never be the same again, but i don't think hair gel Gav minds that one bit? The whole thing is suspicious as hell and i suspect there is a lot more on this story to come?

In the question of conspiracy versus incompetence, incompetence wins nearly every time. Throw in a generous serving of ideology and what could possibly go wrong?
We must remember that it's not the cost of living that's killing us. It's the cost of Government. Or in the case of LA, the Governments waste of money on everything other than fire prevention clearing, fire trucks, manpower and water accessibility. The California Government policies just blew up in their faces. But keep that rainbow flag flying and never forget the leader of diversity, equity and inclusion at the Los Angeles Fire Department appears to blame helpless fire victims as the massive blazes continue to surround the City of Angels. The Lefty capital of the world has gone mad!

This interview with Gavin Newsom has to be seen to be believed, forget about all the hair gel just look at all the hand gestures.
He just screams douchebag and he is talking about reimagining LA 2.0 with a smile on his face which seems odd and tone deaf.
Thank god there are still some sane people like Bill O'Reilly and Adam Carolla. the voices of reason.

More arsonists arrested and of course this goes against the Climate Change narrative that "Dancing Gavin" would have you believe. These fires now appear to be strategically lit all around the mountainous area surrounding LA, the place was a small Spanish settlement in the 18th and 19th century. The desert is not far away either. It's always been a dry and rather hot place and not much happened there until the railway line from Chicago was completed in 1885, the joint still had lots of dirt roads at the time Chaplin was making movies! In the early days it was inhabited by Native Americans and Spanish/Mexican settlers with a modest population of approximately 300,000 by 1910. It wasn't until the roaring Twenties and the Golden Age of Hollywood in the Thirties which followed that made LA what it is today. All those Westerns we watched as kids were all made just over those mountains less than 10 -15 km from Sunset Boulevard!
The insane California policies contributed as much as anything else to this catastrophe. This was a disaster just waiting to happen!
The infrastructure failed miserably and the government knew only to well that 90% of the previous fires in the LA area were caused by human failure, be it deliberate arson or infrastructure failure. The post mortem from all of this will expose more than just a neglectful government. But hey, let's just blame the climate and nobody will go to jail?

Drill baby drill!
It's sort of amazing how much history Los Angeles has built in such a short existence, mostly thanks to how good the movie industry has been at ingraining images into the cultural unconsciousness. It's a weird place, but i knew that going in. I worked there in the 90s, and I thought that I was ready for it. I thought I'd been prepared for the worst, most surreal aspects of Tinseltown, because I've seen more movies about L.A. than I have dumb buddy cop comedy films.
Every city has their special little traits that we associate with them, so I figured that in L.A i'd be annoyed by the enthusiastic cokeheads, phonies and constant traffic jams ( nobody walks in LA), what i wasn't at all prepared for was everybody who goes there to live, work or play thinks that they're destined to be a star. "I've written a script", "I'm going to be an Actor/Actress", "I want to be a Director". That's the one true thing everyone already knows about LA: People only live there because they're in the midst of pursuing that beautiful, hopeful, occasionally sad and misguided dream of super-stardom.
The place is so superficial, the "Stars" who have actually made it and bought a house in Pacific Palisades have lost all sense of reality and hire dudes named T-Bro that pick up and look after their dogs, handle their trash cans, or wipe down their toilet for them. And that's fine. Nobody's begrudging them that. We can all spend our money on whatever we want. But nobody looked around and noticed where they lived, the place has been a death trap for 100 years surrounded by mountains with a government that relies totally on Hollywood for its economy. Fire prevention and water has never been a top priority, nearly half the county is taken up by mountain chains most of them running east-west that have a dynamic history of earthquakes, mud slides and WILDFIRES! We won't be hearing the last of all of this for a long time!
