One of the reasons LA has a lot of homeless people is that it doesn't rain there much and even in winter it doesn't get that cold.

They will have even more homeless people there now including some celebrities.

New York made an effort in the 80's and 90's to get rid of the homeless and a lot ended up moving to San Francisco and LA.

Probably not too many homeless in the 1980s and 1990s people who are alive & homeless in 2025.
Homeless people have homeless babies who become homeless adults. Everyone knows that!

I think homeless people live wherever they happened to be when they became homeless. You can probably draw the dark conclusion as to why there may be less around in frostbitey places.

They go to California because other parts in America try and get rid of them.

In California they are allowed to be.

Homeless people moving to another state with no money and not knowing anybody doesn't sound likely

Hitching, bus travel, planes all exist. Homeless people don’t all have zero dollars and it’s not difficult to imagine someone at the depths of despair in freezing temperatures being able to scrounge up a couple of hundred to go to some place warmer.

The Mayor of LA and the Governor of "Wokeafornia" were caught napping and their policies exposed. I do have my suspicions though about how this all started in the middle of their Winter and how they all started in different locations surrounding the city? Los Angeles will never be the same again. Whatever the reason, something went horribly wrong in Tinseltown and the clean up and recovery will be immense? The question is "Will these people now displaced ever return"? It's a very sad event.

Do you guys get a template for those sort posts?

A lot of friends organizing GoFundMe pages to rebuild homes right now. Thousands of homes lost, not including vans etc of people who lived throughout the affected areas. The devastation is incredible.

I do wonder how many people will rebuild and stay though. The Australian experience suggests people will move to areas less prone to fire as the emotional toll is just too hard to bear ever again.

Nutso dorks going hard on the "DEI made this happen!"

Includes Adam Carolla getting upset that he wasn't given a job as a firefighter because girls?

(Percentage of California firefighters who are women is 3.3%, which is a lower percentage than other states.)

Includes a meteorologist talking us through the Santa Ana winds, with animation.

Queue-jumping rich guy hounded off Twix for offering to pay "any amount" for private firefighters to save his home.

Some of those areas that did burn to the ground no one ever thought it would happen. It went that deep into suburbia.

There's a bit of uncharted territory in all this.

The lack of fire prevention measures certainly made it worse.

In December, 44 Republicans voted against HR 10545, the American Relief Act of 2025, which provided funds for wildfire prevention measures, including $75,000,000 for the "construction or maintenance of shaded fuel breaks in the Pacific Regions."

MAGA voices right now are attempting to blame others for the California wildfires, yet 44 of them voted against a bill containing funding for wildfire prevention. Some of these Republicans have posted about the California fires, but failed to mention how they voted against wildfire prevention in December.

I think Adam Carolla and some other rational people still make a good point that for important jobs where lives are on the line like firefighters they should be hiring the most qualified and most capable people rather than less qualified and less capable people that were hired for diversity reasons.

Carolla has also used another example on his podcast when it comes to airline pilots, saying that he would rather have an old white racist guy that flew planes back in Vietnam flying his airplane if he is the most qualified and most experienced pilot rather than a less qualified and less experienced pilot that was hired for diversity reasons and he wouldn't be alone.

When your life is on the line diversity doesn't seem as important, it's more important to have the best and most qualified people doing the job that can handle things when shit gets real.

This is a recent interview with Adam Carolla where he talks a bit about this stuff and his own personal experience with these fires.

Sure.
rather than less qualified and less capable people that were hired for diversity reasons.
Name these less qualified and less capable people, and the more qualified and more capable people who were blocked from a job, the job positions involved, and the dates they started work.

Or just any sort of study that shows that the California firefighting services have suffered due to any sort of diversity policy. Include any studies showing benefits of such policies.

Thank you.
