Krakouer broken jaw

Silly thing is he could have drunk double he did, gone home in a cab from wherever he was before the Capitol, avoided getting wacked in the jaw and nobody would have known a thing about it and life would have carried on in blissful ignorance.
Except that he would think he got away with it and probably continue to be injury plagued and lacking AFL fitness.

Boy the microscope is going to be on him now. It will make him or break him.

Is the sixth round ban too harsh?
Krak drank alcohol while he was in rehab - which is against team rules. But was he still in rehab?
The breaking of the jaw needs more investigation. If he was at NO fault I think has been harshly dealt with.
Not a popular view, I know.
In real terms its more likely a two week ban by the time his jaw heals

For those making statements about Krakouer's rookie spot, we still have 2 rookie promotions up our sleeve to cover Ryder and Monfries.
Also no point upgrading someone who ain't going to play. The Krak was upgraded because he was a shot at round 1. None of the other rookies are in the selection frame yet. Fingers crossed Snelling is knocking on the door soon though.

Disappointed by this - has a lot to offer the team and he's let everyone down.
He knows it
“There is no excuse for me to have been drinking, particularly when I’m still recovering from injury,” Krakouer said. “I’m sorry for betraying the trust of everyone associated with the football club and will do whatever I can to contribute to achieving our goals for this season and beyond.”
Thanks Nathan for being up front. Your apology is accepted, by me anyway. All the best mate. You've come a long way
and over many hurdles in your come back. You knocked over a big hurdle on Saturday night but I haven't forgotten
the many hurdles you cleared in the last 3yrs. You ****ed up but I'm not going to hang you for it.
When you next run out for the Magpies I'll be in your corner.

After spending the day reflecting on this whole episode I've come to the conclusion that it is pretty much emblematic of Krak's whole AFL career. Here is a guy who was drafted alongside Boak and Gray and managed to debut before both of them. His talent rivals everyone on our list bar maybe Wingard but his discipline and maturity to date has just been nowhere near good enough to make him a top line AFL player. I hope he gets his shit together, I really do. His talent is immense and of course he was our sponsored player on this board last year. But gee whiz, he's running out of chances.

.....
As quoted back on page 2 of this thread;

“Nathan is still recovering from a hamstring strain and his choice to drink alcohol while rehabilitating that injury is far from the professional standards we expect at the Port Adelaide Football Club,” Davies said.

So are saying the club is lying about Krak still being in rehab? o_O

I don't think it is but I may be a bit blind to this as I rate him so highly.
He has no history I know of of being a party boy or serial brawler, or any other undisciplined stuff. He was initially just a kid who couldn't settle in the AFL system, especially while a long way from home. Once we lured him back to Port from the earthmoving job he was doing in WA he has been everything we could hope on field.
It may turn out that this event is just one of a series of recent issues, that he remains unsettled, and that that is why he flips back and forth from the rookie list. If so then I stand corrected.

It's an interesting point - for all intents and purposes, Krakouer was over his hamstring strain but hadn't been given the all clear. Maybe he thought it was ok to have a drink.
