Whether we like it or not, him not having played in a winning final hurts him.Zach Merrett makes my top 10 potentially and top 15 definitely. Can he do much more?

Yes, but not his fault at all.Whether we like it or not, him not having played in a winning final hurts him.
It wasn't long ago that a couple of Freo supporters were trying to convince me Treacy was at about Jeremy Cameron's level in 2024. He's already a really good player, but there's nothing wrong with actually waiting until he's a top top tier star before crowing. All this cyclone talk, yet he's forgot about Treacy
He is absolutely a top 50 player alreadyIt wasn't long ago that a couple of Freo supporters were trying to convince me Treacy was at about Jeremy Cameron's level in 2024. "Absolutely"?! Where's your argument? He is absolutely a top 50 player already
Not yet.He is absolutely a top 50 player already
Statistically xerri is amazing. Visibly, each of his opponents have far more impact on matches. Hell, his opponent in the Richmond game last year even looked like he had more of an impact, so it isn't even the team he's inDid xerri retire last night?
"Absolutely"?! Where's your argument?
Treacy had a 57 goal/assist season. A very nice year, but several forwards did better. 11 to be exact.
12 forwards collected more coaches votes.
The last sentence has nothing to do with whether his 2024 season was in the best 50 produced. Games missed are one reason for that - if it's close, you defer to the players who were out there more and racked up higher coaches votes, goal/assist tallies. Missing out on the top 10 on both counts among forwards means no top 50. We all know midfielders/hybrid position players dominate these lists. You're making my argument for me. How many forwards do you think should fit in the top 50?
Plus he missed 4 games. He's easily top 10 if using averages.
And he's a kid, you would expect him to go even better in 2025.

Treacy will probably crack the top 50 if he improves again in 2025 and plays most games. Not quite there yet in 2024. Not in the best few key forwards. How many of those do you want in the top 50?

AbsolutelyButters ahead of Rozee? Port fans, you agree?
Top 50 heading into 2025, would be based on 2024. That's the way my brain works. If it is guessing who will be the best at the end of 2025, then of course things change.Your whole premise is wrong. It's not a retrospective top 50, it's the top 50 players coming into 2025. Petracca is #5 on the list and played 13 games last year.
In my opinion, Treacy is absolutely a top 50 player heading into 2025. He has the track record from last year and will improve further in 2025.
Oh yeah, I wasn't endorsing Cornes whole list or anything.Fair point, but at least Treacy >>>>>> Alir.
Alir & Maynard, mmmmmm obviously Kane was playing with his hoses again.
This doesn't make any sense, given most people have pointed out what they don't like about the list. This is going to be hard for footy nuffies to swallow.
But this list shows just how over rated, over hyped, and over marketed the AFL really is.
Because there are a lot of shit trucks in this list..
I know. I know. You have hurt feelings. It's like saying half of Jesus 12 disciplines were ****iwits to religious nuffies.
Good way to miss my point. This doesn't make any sense, given most people have pointed out what they don't like about the list.
What's your top 50, by the way? I never go too hard in criticism unless I can provide and justify my own answer. So your rant has zero credibility unless it is backed by your own top 50.
I did actually miss that point. I thought you meant he had erroneously put sub par players in there based on hype or something. I see what you're saying now.Good way to miss my point.
I think it's a genuine and realistic top 50. I can't do better.
People are arguing but none of them can do better.
It's just confronting to have it here in front of us that this actually is the best of the best.
Basically man yelling at clouds.I did actually miss that point. I thought you meant he had erroneously put sub par players in there based on hype or something. I see what you're saying now.
It's all relative. Was there a better top 50 in 2015? 2005? 1995? 1985? Is your complaint simply that we pretend good is great? What is the actual thing annoying you, or that you would have changed? I guess that's my follow-up query. Or else it does sort of read as "old man yells at cloud".
I actually think Papley is quite good at what he does, but yeah didn't Cornes have him top 30? Charlie Cameron isn't the player he was either (still good, but top top tier?) and made it. I guess he wanted to include some small forwards but then Stengle didn't make it.Basically man yelling at clouds.
Almost all fo the 50 are good. I just saw red when I saw Papley... I mean come on... He's very ordinary.
It's a top 50. Not a top 500.I think he might have forgotten Tim Taranto
