Farewell JFN.

You now go on to be my favourite ex-Pie still playing in the AFL. Should have a premiership medallion. Go well up there when not playing us.

Episode 2 Whatever GIF

Former Brisbane employee who has no connection to Collingwood other than that his son plays for them, doesn't barrack for Collingwood against Brisbane when his son isn't playing... What an incredibly shocking piece of news.

I'm always shocked when i find out someone barracks against the pies....

I just read the article that was in the HS

Look, it's really sad what happened to JFN in the 2023 finals series but I don't know how to right way to respond to it.

I feel for the young man who had such a run of games only to be not selected for the most important ones (even though he was in part responsible for us getting there)

- The winning of the cup seems to indicate that we did the right thing
If he had been selected, would we have still made/won the GF?

- I would much rather he have a medal than Ginni but making that change to the GF side changes the whole cause and effect chain and maybe we don't win even if JFN plays a blinder.

I hope he goes really well at GCS.

Thanks for your role in helping us get the flag, Johnny.

Feck you red headed prick.
Good luck though.

What is this wearing pajamas as day wear trend? Recently back from Thailand and lots of young guys doing similarly over there.
The kids are calling them "co-ords" - Short for co-ordinated set, and they really became popular about 3-4 years ago, but footy players are conservative bogans like the guys you were seeing in Thailand for the most part, so some are just catching on now.

You'll use words like disaster and catastrophe with some big adjectives in front of it.

IMO 2025 will be an entertaining season regardless of what happens

If we do well in the H&A season, then great.

But if we don’t, it’ll end up being a season where we see a lot more of our young players as they displace our older ones, and that’ll be fun to follow.

Meanwhile, the bloke picked at 12 in a strong draft is probably rated similarly to the bloke we would have gotten at 6 in a weaker draft - which we may not have have picked anyway due to trading it into the future draft - another unknown risk as that team might end up having a good year. So ultimately we would have gotten very minor unders for Noble.

Now if we don't crash down the ladder .. and heaven forbid go well ...you work out the rest ...
We'll do ok next year - end up with around pick 20 in the draft - we'll trade that pick to accrue FS picks for Josh/ Nick Daicos' kids who are already tipped to be high picks in what will be a strong draft in 2045 - add Checker's son and Pendles (in his 12th year as coach) will be licking his lips

Craig Kelly will retire as CEO having overseen our 21st flag and there's a national holiday to mark the unveiling of a statue of Craig McRae

That's probably an understatement about JFN, he has played scintillating attack from half back footy for us, couple of wonderful goals running through chf at full tilt.

Gonna miss him and reckon Johnny is heavily underrated, happy with the Houston upgrade though.

Heavily underrated.

It is such a shame that he missed the spot in the finals and Markov took it from him. I never rated Markov (certainly not in comparison to Noble), but even those who think he was a better choice for that finals series would acknowledge that it was only for maybe that 6 week period that we was better. All games prior, and all games since, JFN has been the far superior player.

Hammer, nail, head!

So Markov was better? And now a forever premiership player.
Thanks for your input Mr Bean.

My opinion is that Noble was the better player.

Clearly he was and that’s evidenced by his trade value that helped land Houston.

Oleg will be good depth for one more season before he retires as a premiership hero.

As for 2023, the selection decision was made and it now can’t be unmade. Noble was very stiff but his form had dropped off slightly, especially his greatest weapon which was metres gained. Perhaps he was carrying a slight niggle, who knows but it’s history now.

I wonder if our footy department might have had an inkling that JFN would request a trade at season's end and signed Markov as insurance.

Noble played some utter rubbish football in 2023. Couldn’t defend 1 on 1 and constantly turned the footy over, don’t know why people don’t remember this. The whole forum wanted him dropped at several points
On top of that Fly preferred Oleg.
Worked out ok.
