- Whilst Essendon's first half against Geelong was scintillating, their second half was absolutely putrid - was as if they went to sleep. Happened late against Collingwood as well. A very generous fixture should see them competing for one of the final spots in the eight, however inconsistency might cost them a few games against teams they should beat.
possibly the best summation of our 2017. In an ideal world, we could win 14-15 games given our fixture.
You take what was a pretty good side in 2014, add 2 years worth of kids in Merrett, Parish, Fantasia, Gleeson, Daniher, Tippa and Hartley, plus some pretty decent recruits in Kelly, Green, Berger and Stewart.
Hooker as genuine second key forward (and our defence is still good with Ambrose and Hartley looking good down back)
I am hoping the fade outs came from load management and not something we will see in the season proper.

As for the JLT, while people criticised it for meaning nothing, it's a pre-season hit out. it doesnt need to mean anything other than a cobweb clean out exercise. no need for a cup, $$$ or some playoff for a finals spot to make it relevant.
Hats off to the rules committee on the changes too. Other than the blindspot in the 3rd man up rule, which was addressed, i liked the changes.
Probably time to kill the supergoal if JLT/AFL are too cheap to pay for some Sherrin's or cheques to junior clubs.
