Is North Melbourne passing on Logan McDonald going to be the 2021 version of the Bulldogs passing on Buddy for Ryan Griffin

So after two seasons Buddy had played 10 more games that Logan and kicked twice as many goals.

He kicked 73 goals in his third season. So unless Logan does something similar then the whole premise of this thread is wrong yeah? And unfairly compares Logan to one of the top five forwards of the AFL era at the very start of his career.

I don't think anyone is arguing Logan will be as good as Buddy in his prime. We are hoping for a Nick Reiwoldt or something of that level.

Comben is pretty promising as a CHF.

We have 2 R1 picks with Caddy and Archer Reid both highly rated
Yeah the question will be on whether you will decide to pick a tall with those picks.

McDonald seems a miss at this stage, and it was a little baffling the club forewent their second rounder this year to pick another small last year.

Talls always take longer to develop than bigs, so perhaps they have confidence in trading for known key position players.

Hopefully they don’t lose McKay as well, as that would be the last thing the list needs for ultimate success.

Riewoldt's first 2 seasons were significantly higher than Logan's tbh

Realistically the state the club has been in the last couple of years I expect the WA teams would have been successful getting him back home anyway.

It would have been 2 x top 5 picks bailing 😭

Happy to back Will in, now we have Clarko, Ratts, Viney we can take the risk with interstate talent again.

That was the one thing SOS got right, took the talls first.

Agree. Weitering, McCay and Curnow were probably his three crowning moments.

His principles were strong. Unfortunately he wasn’t so good with picking the talents of the mids - Walsh excepted.

He also took Tom De Koning, which was his best mid range draft selection at Carlton.

But you don't want to do a Paddy McCartin over Petracca, and even now, Cadman over Sheezel could be one GWS may live to regret.

Yep.

Or Coffield over Naughton.
Or Cooper Stevens over Sam De Koning.

Tricky picking the best players.

North had Sheezel first in their rankings which is fair enough.

Big question that after overlooking talls with top picks in previous years whether Wardlaw or a tall forward would be more valuable in them obtaining ultimate glory. With talls taking several years, it’s definitely a wait and see.

Yep. Time will tell with Wardlaw, but Larkey right now is doing a great job as a key pillar now with support from Zurhaar and other medium/small forwards.

They need another quality key defender first and foremost, unfortunately they seemed to be as rare as Hen's Teeth in the last couple of National Drafts.

Says the muppet who won't stop quoting my posts.

Use that brain your mother gave you and come up with just a little more than 'obsessed'.
Seems every second post you make is about Richmond or one of their players.
You have obviously been triggered to mention them in threads that have no relation to them at all.

Quietly amused they are taking up a lot of your limited head space.

Agree. If McKay leaves they are in all sorts.
And up forward Comben is far from a lock.
They are very thin beyond their best 22 with key position players.

You reckon the team that finished 18th two years in a row isn’t a finished article?

Shit man, can you call Kane Cornes and let him know you have the scoop?

Wardlaw will be the best midfielder at North in 2 years. I'd imagine that we'll take a key tall and Nick Watson with our two top 5 picks.

North need plenty, but could quite possibly have a coleman medallist on their hands at the moment.

As mentioned, if Mckay leaves, obviously they are in trouble. Hes a top 10 key defender in the comp.

Griffin Logue is a gun defender. Played very well last night.

Of course not mate.
But talls generally take longer to develop.
I don’t think you have the key position spine and I would have built that first.

Your mids are more than able and will impact quickly. Mature talls required for ultimate success.

Even a the most argumentative one eyed North zealot would be agree that this is required for them to move forward. Wouldn’t you agree Handsome?

Just intrigued by the fact your supporters genuinely believe what they post and it's no trolling or attention seeking. Strange and depressing supporter base.
