Nothing about CrossFit makes sense to me.
LETS WORKOUT AS FAST AS POSSIBLE
y tho?
It's like the antithesis
Why run as fast as possible? Why swim as fast as possible? CrossFit isn't only about strength. It's a combination of strength, cardio and gymnastics.Nothing about CrossFit makes sense to me.

It's like the antithesis of the purpose of strength training.
Also the management of the sport side of things is apparently horrendous, as evidenced by the guy who drowned because their a. event order was stupidly dangerous, and b. insufficient and inappropriately trained water safety.

The management of last year's CrossFit Games was poor. I was the first on here to admit that. But to diss a whole sport because of it is also poor. Lots of sports have had incidents of negligence.
Its a ridiculous way to begin your journey into fitness, especially if you have led a sedentary life with a poor diet. You genuinely need to give your body and CNS the time to adjust to exercising. As to what time period that is, I am no expert, but I think the first 2-4 weeks should generally be light exercise, with small increments in intensity with each workout. Now more power to them, go get that new year new me, but, if I wasn’t already in pretty good nick, I couldn’t think of a worse introduction to fitness than CrossFit. These people were absolutely ****ing cooked and looked like they were about to vomit and collapse on the pavement.
I’m in pretty good shape and I doubt I’d survive a proper CrossFit session without being truly ****ing pushed. It just seems like a terrible starting venture for New Year’s resolutioners.

Importantly the exercise needs to be fun and enjoyable so the likelihood of these newbies continuing is high.
Its no surprise that most drop off within the first 4 weeks of the New Year.
US study in 2019, both I think it would not be unreasonable to draw some parallels with Australia.100%
I was actually thinking to myself if the drop off rate for regular gym goers is 80% (which I’ve read before) it’s gotta be more like 90-95% for this.
If you’re not used to doing active recovery and hydrating etc. then that post hard workout stiffness and soreness is gonna last for a week, by which point you won’t wanna go back to just be physically ****ed for another week.
I’ve mentioned it before elsewhere and it’s a real throwback but I can DISTINCTLY recall the boom in people out walking/running straight after the first week of episodes of the biggest loser when that was on tv.US study in 2019, both I think it would not be unreasonable to draw some parallels with Australia.

Speak for yourself, I was doing pullups using the umbilical cord since conception.Every gym nut was new at some point.
You can’t really guarantee anything to be fair.I was completely out of shape and probably 30 kilos overweight, when I started CrossFit 10 years ago. Yet last year I represented Qld in the Masters League Games.
I can guarantee if it was a reputable CrossFit gym that those people you saw were encouraged strongly by the coach to scale back their workout significantly. Some gyms won't even let you participate in the main workout and have beginners classes for newbies. But egos get in the way and they want to compete with regulars who have been doing it for years. I see it all the time.
As it's written, or what is referred to as rx, yes. Many people who have been doing CrossFit for years still don't do rx.Most CrossFit wods I’ve seen and done are just absolutely not appropriate for people early in their health and fitness journey. I think we can agree on that?
You could drown! And butterfly is such a ridiculous stroke.I should really toughen up and make a real effort to swim 50m butterfly with flippers, got to 35m on the weekend.
