It’s a bit unfortunate how shit our injury reports are. Give us a ****ing number!

Also, guessing no Smillie next Wednesday not even sure about Armstrong TBH.
Happy to see McAuliffe is available to play.

Report today from CAESAR on the ACL guys

I'll start by saying that people respond vastly differently to how they respond to ACL surgery and when they can start aggressively tackling their rehab.

Both Juddy April & Lefau June, (both 2nd ACL's), have been doing a lot of non contact main group drills lately and will meet their 12 month target if not slightly earlier with a huge amount of work under their belt.

Tylar Young: May ACL, from my perspective has done way less on ground rehab running than the boys above from what I have seen but is just starting to do some drills with the non-contact hat on also.

Taj: May ACL, June surgery, clean up surgery in October. I refer to the following paragraph in the Nov 24 article below:

"The 18-year-old underwent minor follow-up surgery in October and is set to start running again in the pre-Christmas training block".

Taj did not do any running Pre-Christmas, his first official steps in rehab group was Jan 15.

Taj is starting to do a lot more now, looking freer, a small amount of lateral stuff and was doing some 20 metre kicks, jumping gently at times when taking possession over head, so seems to be tracking well and expect it to quickly increase from here with his June 12 month target still on track.

We have to be worried now. He's missed an enormous amount of footy and game development

He should still be good before the team is. Just have to get him right whatever amount of time it takes.

The media is knocking itself out highlighting other teams injuries & absences, barely a mention of ours.

We have 10 unavailable this week. I would wager if the whole list was fully fit, about 8 of those would be in our best 23.

Balta, Smillie, Prestia, Ralphsmith expected back about a month from now. The 5 x ACL's + Faull are going to be mid-season onwards before they are any realistic chance to play at AFL level.

The only worry with Gibcus is if his body doesn’t fully recover. You only needed to watch his early season cameo last year to be reminded how naturally good he is at football. If he’s progressing into some form of training it is a good sign.

Even the most talented players need time to develop, praying he does get back of course but he'll still be 50 or so games behind where he should have been development wise, not to mention a heap of in game experience that you can't replace.

I do feel this will impact the eventual player he becomes / what might have been.

For comparison Grimes only played 26 games in his first 4 seasons so I think that experience loss can be overcome at this stage. I think it will definitely become a bigger issue if Gibcus’s injuries woes don’t end after his ACL recovery and/or he is unable to get back to near full fitness. He probably needs a strong finish to the year even if he doesn’t play AFL, and a full preseason…. 🤞

Not paying too much attention to injured players this year and just give all the boys more than enough time to recover and actually give them extra time to get things right as its a nothing year and we are destined to finish last and just accept that
Its the long game and all about 2027 onward

After round 1 we already have 10 players on an injury list

FMD

Prestia & Ralphlauren still 5 weeks away. Added Bight to our list. Faull goes from playing to test. Nobody returning this week. Team started like they were smuggling gold in their shoes.

Gagf Serpell.

LOL there are 5 who are ACLs, are they just magically gonna dissappear?

The only addition is Blight with his adductor which is a "test"

Talk about an overreaction :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Forget the ACL’s for the next 2/3 months…..they’re all 2024 injuries.

Other than Meatballs and Hugo, all we have is 3 players who are a test or 1-2.
Serpell deserves a pat on the back.
