They’ve obviously signed an agreement with SJOG hospital to not formally announce any injuries to the public outside of the SJOG injury report thingo that is usually done on Tuesdays

They probably get a chunk of cash as a result.

We can’t brag about how strong the club is financially and at the same time complain about them when this is probably a consequence of the club’s ability to make money.
Taking the piss right...:flushed:

The middle ground would be to get someone to do the update today. Wouldn't have to be Vozzo.

They should be able to realise that fans care about the injury status of our best players, especially when it's a potentially serious injury in what is shaping up to be a year where we contend for the flag.

They 'should' but we're not talking about shoulds with WCE - we're talking about money.

I'm not a member so i can't say shit, but if members aren't happy with the sponsorship/revenue-first approach of the club, then they should make their opinions heard.

My suggestion wouldn't impact the deal or revenue.

And I disagree that non-members don't have a say. All fans that support the team and contribute financially should be able to voice their opinion and for it to be considered. But agree that non-members should get less of a say.

No. Why would I be?

Not saying it's how it should be, but that's clearly how it is.

I personally would prefer we made less profit and treated the fans better, but that's not what the club thinks.
Never heard of anything like that when it comes to the medical stuff.
So are they down as a sponsor?

Yeah I agree with you but as far as this year goes (presuming the sponsorship contract is an annual one) there’s probably not much the club can do.

Assuming of course there is a contract, and it prohibits the club from making announcements before prescribed periods (which I suspect is what is in place)

Edit - ok so you’re suggesting they do the SJOG Report prior to when Vozzo is available on Thursday.

Fair enough really

The club Twitter person actually used this as a reason for not providing an update on a Monday earlier in the season, can't recall which injury it involved.

Also, is there anything more pointless than the poll in this thread?

"Hey, random internet users with varying degrees of medical expertise - what's your opinion on the severity of this elite athlete's injury?"

Reckon we could still get closer than Doc Peter Larkins.

I agree its about the St John of God sponsorship.

Vozzo and Simmo were working yesterday at the East Perth game. Darling has had scans already and the club already knows what the outcome is - no doubt. But the video has to be made and it has to honour the sponsorship agreement, so free flow of information to members and the league be damned. Its almost amateur in its crass commercialism.

We won't see Darling for close to two months i would think, maybe 3. That ankle roll was full on, makes me shiver thinking about it as I've done it myself numerous times.

The swelling won't subside for at least 4 weeks & then returning to full mobility and strength is another 4 weeks. Jack will be less than match fit to say the least by then so you'd assume he would do a 2/3 week conditioning phase. The worst thing to do would be rush him back and he does it again because the ligaments are still weak or he does a hammy or quad on the other side because he's compensating hard for the weakness still in the ankle.
