Australian public has to put some respect to Hazlewoods name in this format. I mean there was a while, where he was considered a specialist test bowler and only a test bowler. Dare I say, he is probably the closest Australia has had to Glenn McGrath- since Pigeon retired.

He has picked up 2 wickets on a very good batting wicket in his first over in Chennai tonight.

Watching that innings from Hardik last night, im not sure exactly how old he is ( as I cant be bothered googling), that innings has eerily parallels to the recent one where he played for England in a T20I and failed to hit out from the get go- instead choosing to take about 8 to 10 balls to have a look in. He looked way too casual for me.

What a difference 18 months make. Jake Fraser-McGurk is a shadow of his former self.
There's zero nuance to his game.

Doesn't have the skill/soft hands/intelligence to work singles and rotate the strike, just swings at everything and hopes for the best.

Im getting the feeling he has got complacent after reaching the top. He has looked a frustrated man at times lost.

If I can draw a similar parallel to what JFM is going through at the moment, I reckon he is going through a period that D'Arcy Short went through. Had a couple of stand out seasons domestically, got his Australian national call-up, both played IPL......and now both are a shadow of their peaks. The good thing for JFM? He is still young- 22 years old to be exact. There is the real possibility this might be JFM last gig in the IPL, at best- he might not get a gig for a period of time. D'Arcy Short from memory got 1 season and never returned and got an opportunity again.

McGurk doesn't know what to do. By that I mean, he doesn't know whether to go out all attack or to have a bit of defence to his game. Do feel a bit for him. His home state , South Australia won the Shield on Saturday. He won't get that ability to go back and rectify that. I feel like his career right now is at a bit of a cross-road.

Faf Du Plessis I think was giving him some advice with his batting whilst batting. Comms reckon he was saying 'the boundaries are 60 metres, you don't have to hit it 120 metres'.
