Damo saying in regards to us targeting players “it will come to bite them”

What a muppet
If he had an original thought it would be his first. He's just parroting what some other deep thinker said. Think it was 360 or on the couch. Don't even remember who it was it was so puerile. I like to think that at Hawthorn the players are aware of (At least the broad strokes) regarding who we're after and why. Every player past, present and future wants to play and win a GF. Why would any player leave a club that, by any measure, is one of teams in the box seat to have a red hot crack. And we're moving to a new shack shortly.

Childish talk from both Barret and Lyon. İt's "sooky sooky give my lollies back " "
stuff! Oppo targetting some of our plalyers, in a obtuse/weird way, works for us as we don't have to have that " all important talk", it'll just happen naturally as another club could entice couple of our players with offers they can't refuse!
And also, as Will Schofield said the other day, majority of players don't move just for money, they want on field success and stability. So, our targeted players might not move on anyway.

Really like this comes from the opposition and not million and one nuffies out there including the media
Oppo or not this is why I'm so glad Sam is in charge because you just know that he'll be keeping everyone from Will Day down to the water boy honest with all this premiership favourites talk. I assume it will parroted like always that the goal is to secure a top 4 spot and then go from there.

Like Sam said at the start of the year that it didn't matter what they said about us when they were saying we were tanking and it sure as hell didn't matter when they were giving us praise for making a semi final.

It’s so lovely to be front and centre again. Every thing, every where the feast of news focused on Hawthon, delicious 😋
Sam knew it would come, that’s why he has taught the boys that we don’t listen to anything from outside. Genius.

Would’ve thought later would be seen as worse
To be fair to Oscar, West Coasts season is already over anyway so I don’t really get what all the fuss is about

He is the the kind of guy that as a kid, argues with his maths teacher because he's got a better way of getting the right answer, despite his method being entirely wrong and only fluking the right answer.

"In this right angled triangle, two of the sides are 3 and 4. If you take half of four and add it to 3, you get 5, which is the right answer. This is simpler than your method."

Then the teacher proves it doesn't work for any other triangle, but he stands his ground and digs in deeper. "I still maintain it's a form of tanking."

So Bucks is ok with clubs talking to rival players late in the season but not early in the season :drunk:
Simmo and Horse's take on 360 last night was interesting. They both admitted they'd had discussions with opposing players, including captains, early (Round 3/4) in the season. The only reservation they had was that this particular discussion became public.

I don't think Sam is bothered one way or the other but perhaps Oscar's manager should've insisted that the coffee catch-up be held at a more discreet location, away from any prying eyes. That would've made the post-discussion days, weeks and months less awkward for Oscar, especially within West Coast.

Edit: It's amazing that, despite us having a bye and the two (supposed) biggest clubs in Victoria due to meet at the G tonight, the Sam/Oscar story is still No.1 at https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl (as at 12:20pm)!

yes but has anyone considered that Oscar and his management are not stupid and that perhaps they were not fussed with the meeting becoming public knowledge to put some pressure on WC. I have heard the club was low balling him and had even rescinded their offer.

maybe.. dont think its a good strategy though because Oscar can't draw one at the moment & is C

It would have been oscars manager leaking to get WCE to up their offer he doesn't want to leave i reckon
It's not always that, it's list managers that all kind of know where things are at. A reporter could have talked to Sydney who would know what the asking price for Oscar Allen is and the current offers even if they aren't pursuing him.

A list manager will make sure for every free agent that they are maximising their contract offers and making sure the player is doing what's best for themselves and exploring all options even if they are happy and willing to stay for unders.

We have gone through it recently with Hardwick and Nash and now Worpel. Worpel apparently from our ITK had agreed to an extension last year but no announcement. He may still re-sign but he will make sure he knows what the offers are and will explore what moving would be like.

And clubs need to know this stuff too so probably encourage it during the year so they know where they sit and they can sign others and pursue targets. How can we pursue Butter or Reid if we end up having to add 25% to our Worpel offer? Or if he's going we know we can go harder for both.

Doesn't surprise me one bit as they renegaded on the handshake agreement the former footy boss had with Barrass after they fired him. It seems the new football operations there are now operating like the Saints / North.
