has AA become a joke

I dont know about a joke but i think they need to select players based on position only, ie: If Brown, Fevola, Riewoldt and Franklin all have ripper years but all play CHF then only one gets the nod. You pick the player based on performance in that position, i think that way it brings a lot of other players into the team, so if Brown plays CHF but Riewoldt gets it then Brown cant get put in the pocket just because he played well. You pick the best FP player. Get my drift??

Agree 100%.

Exactly right - but Paul Chapman did have a very good year?? i can justify his selection on a flank but Cox????????????????????

How many games did Cox played compared to Chapman this year?

Chapman played 17...
Cox played 13...

You obviously both missed the point and I can't be bothered explaining it.

Gilbert, Mitch Clark and LeCras were robbed. Bolton, Goodwin, Nicky Dal, Davis all pretty lucky.

Congrats Juddy on the VC well deserved

Fully fit Chapman > Lecras and Porpz.

Chapmans spot is easily deserved.
No.. Just.. no.

Chapman: 19 games, 29 goals 15 behinds
Porplyzia: 24 games, 57 goals 20 behinds
LeCras: 21 games, 58 goals 26 behinds.

Oh, and just for reference purposes:
Davis: 22 games, 35 goals, 24 behinds.

So, you were saying?

IMO they screwed up the forward line. Swan should be in midfield or on the bench. By putting him in the forward line, he is affectively taking the place of a player that has had a better year than him AS A FORWARD. Davis, I don't think, should be there either. He's had a good year also, but LeCras and Porplyzia have earned their spots as the two small forwards of the competition.

I think Chapman and Lecca are/were vying for different positions and feel that both should be in the team.

just like to point out that he played half his season in the midfield :thumbsu:

Firstly Chapmans played 18 games (1 of them a final)
Secondly, your working in totals arnt you?
How about averages...

Chapman: 18 games, 26.9 avg disposals, 6.6 marks, 1.6 goals, 0.9 goal assists.

Lecras: 21 games, 13.9 avg disposals, 4.1 marks, 2.8 goals, 0.7 goal assists.

Porplyzia: 24 games, 14.3 avg disposals, 3.7 marks, 2.4 goals, 0.6 goal assists.

Davis: 22 games, 20.8 avg disposals, 4.9 marks, 1.6 goals, 0.6 goal assists.

So we can see from this that Chapman averages same goals as Davis and more goal assists from the two permanent small forwards. Also he gathers more touches and marks but you guys wouldn't look at that now would you?

As your fellow supporter pointed out: Chapman spent half the season in the midfield which explains the higher possession/lower goal tally.

However, the AA team is supposed to reward players for the position they play in, which is why it's a joke, considering LeCras and Porplyzia were the best two 'permanant forwards' as you said yourself.

Even with his goal assist he is behind LeCras and Porpolyzia in total scoreboard input (i.e scores plus assists). The additional possessions is indicative of the time in the midfield which is probably why he is on a flank rather than the pocket. I've no problem with Chappy being in there on a flank but think LeCras should have got the pocket.

Reminds me of Farmer being robbed of the forward pocket spot by Didak (54 goals to 20-something) in 2006, I think, but hey, give us something to argue about.

You do realise that they play different positions? And that as a HFF that moves into the midfield Chapman is pretty much the best. That's what his position in the team was. Swan... not sure why he's there... he is a genuine midfielder so yeah...

Normally I dont care but Lecras and Goddard not being there is just pathetic. Lecras carries the Eagles forward line and is pretty much their only hope of scoring, and well Goddard is the man.

So why get rid of Chapman, who plays a majority of the game in the forward line, unlike Dane Swan who hardly plays in the forward line.
