Speculation Harley Reid [OOC 2026]

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

And when the AFL step in what are they going to do ?
Absolutely nothing

geelong will just say here is our 1st and F1 and AFL will say , Ok they are amking a fair offer maybe consider it eagles and Matty will just take it
IMHO theyd get in Harleys ear and offer him AFL ambassador money to stay with us which he will accept.

I severely doubt the AFL wont cook the books when it comes to this trade. They will be a big part of how this works out

LOL no chance

You think the AFL players association wont be on the AFL head demanding they ensure the kid gets to where he wants
You better pray its not Geelong or Hawks because you will be lucky to get 2 x 1st rounders better than pick #12

Reid will take the money.... AFLPA wont matter
Yeah but who will he take the money from

After this year the cats will shed so much cap they can easily pay him and Hawks already have the cap space
Just about any team could make room for $1.5 mil if they want its not like the eagles are offering him double

I hope he signs and stays but looking less likely and if the eagles feel like he is leaving this year is the time to trade him as next year HR holds the cards and goes where he likes

🚨 DISCLAIMER:

These are all speculative and assume clubs are willing to part with major assets or multiple future firsts. Not every club will realistically do it—but if Harley became available, everyone would at least ask the question.

West Coast receives:

  • 2026 1st-round pick
  • Reef McInnes

  • Harley Reid

West Coast receives:

  • Hawthorn’s 2025 & 2026 1st-round picks

That's not what I asked you.

I asked who will be able to offer three first round picks. You're answer "the other team will work it out" is just a lazy response. If your list management sees it the same way as you, he'll be going for one first round pick, rather than two.
How about we go with"We will get as much as we can" if he wants to leave.
Personally I think he will stay.

Seeing west coast already have the Hawks 2025 1st and 2nd round picks, we could send you Carlton’s 1st round pick and we will keep McKenzie thanks

Still better than 2 in a game your team had 65 inside 50s, has J.Williams not had the best start to the season of the 3?

Is he playing in a team with far worse supply?
Treacy was destroying his man so he was getting most of the footy. Amiss had a bad game but that doesn’t mean your man had a good one.

Treacy kicking 6 doesn’t excuse Amiss having 2 disposals in a game his team had 65 inside 50s.

Even including a game where his opposition finished without a KPD and he kicked 4, his form has been alarming.

Exclude that and he’s looked like a player that would struggle in the WAFL, embarrassing regression 😂

Either he re-signs one of the contracts offered to him by us, or he'll ask to leave. He wont be here next year if he wants to leave.
Why ?

What if he says ill make my decision next year ?
The eagles cant do anything about it and will just have to accept that Harley puts of contract talks on hold.

He will head back into the middle, most likely this Friday. It was doing him no favours being tagged in the middle. Now we can chuck him in and send him down back to break it atleast. I think he is being tagged wherever he ends up so its not a WCE problem that way. He will just need to overcome it, much like Dusty did
He won't stay at HB for long but your Tigers recruits are going to be important for helping to shape his career, both on and off the field.

Whoever wants him will figure it out basically

I think it’s Essendon he goes too anyway. If he wants to go he will be smart enough to pick a team who can achieve a trade

If he's leaving West coast to chase success then he's not picking essendon.

Carlton don't have a first rounder this year.
At least 3 of the clubs on that list (4 if you want to include melbourne) Harley won't even consider picking.
And St kilda won't in a million years trade Owen's (not that Reid is going there anyway).

Look I can sympathise with you. I've attempted to find hope in dark places as a Freo fan post-2016. I thought Taylin Duman was a footballer. I said with a straight face that the silver lining of Neale leaving was Connor Blakely would flourish as a midfielder. I fully bought the club's propaganda on Brett Bewley being an AFL winger.

But taking victory laps coz a key fwd who still doesn't have a Wikipedia page has scored 3 goals this season is quite something.

Has Williams or Amiss had the better year? Pretty simple question I would have thought. One that apparently no Fremantle supporter can answer.

It's all subjective, and that's the beauty of football. I'll go through a few indicators:
  • Fwd work: probably Jye, but it's closer than it should be. No amount of talk of blocks and taking attention from JT can make poor numbers look good. Showed up in last quarters of our 2 close games.
  • Ruck work: by default Jack.
  • Not being so rubbish that the coach subs you out: Jye wins that one, but a bit unfair coz you guys played 4 key fwds.
  • Ability to live in an oppo fan's head rent free: Jye hands down.
That last one is pretty powerful, so I'm giving it to Jye. But room for improvement.

If he’s leaving Eagles to chase success he must be fairly confident he won’t need the 5 mill he will leave behind

I don't know about you, but generally if someone offers me a two million dollar contract per annum, I tend to sign pretty quickly, there's always a chance the contract might not be there in the future. Why hasn't he signed already?

2026 first round pick is off limits - we have Cody Walker
..all our 2025 picks are off limits we have Harry Dean and Tyson Gresham to draft this year.

Reid to Carlton is not going to happen - unless WCE is keen on players instead of picks like Pittonet, Motlop, Binns and Kemp.

It’s quite obvious by the offers made and the comments from their coach that Reid is looking to leave and the Eagles know it.
