I think that's one area where we've got Victoria covered. He'll have 60k fans and an entire state behind him each week.

It’s pretty widely regarded industry wide that Harley will end up back in Victoria at some stage whether that’s sooner or later is very much to be confirmed.

It’s about the kid wanting to get home which is the only reason he’s going to leave and bringing in a big name recruit from another team might be the best opportunity for Harley and his management team to try and get him out early if that’s what he wants to do.

It makes sense because it gives WC a PR story for their fans that they didn’t just lose Reid for draft picks, you brought in another superstar. It also allows WC to maximise the deal getting way overs a year out from being uncontracted which would allow you to keep a good draft hand and get Warner.

Really not rocket science here to understand but it’s all semantics, long way to go before any of this materialises if it does at all.

Look I'm a North supporter so it pains me to say this but no Vic kid grows up dreaming of playing in front of 22k at Marvel, and nor do they fantasise about playing at Optus.

If Harley IS that type who wants big games and big crowds, he's thinking a packed MCG.

On face value, I agree. I think Victorians underestimate West Coast crowds when we're good though. Only Collingwood and flag-era Richmond draw more home fans than the Eagles.

I would be very happy if he has a career similar to Judd. Plays a few seasons, wins us a flag, then pursues his own interests. But he'll get paid wherever he is and we're one of the few clubs where he'll have rock star fame. But I don't think he goes back to Melbourne. I think Perth is a little more laid back. If he goes home, I think it'll be Geelong.

Perth and Adelaide are not the same financially…. Naitanui a good example. Highest paid footballer in sponsorships by an absolute mile during his playing days. Guy doesn’t even work a proper job. Just works part time at rhe club . He made so much money he never has to work again

Your 'link' to Essendon was a Tom Morris article saying they're going to make a huge offer to Reid.

Now, if you apply mild critical thinking to this, you'd understand that doesn't 'link' Reid to Essendon whatsoever, it just states the bleeding obvious.

Now apply that same kind of 'thinking' to all other Vic clubs prepared to make an offer and you'll understand that is has nothing to do with it being 'widely accepted' he'll move back to Vic, but rather it's journalists reporting on the obvious fact that Vic clubs will make an offer to lure Reid back home.

That doesn't mean he actually will, or has any intention of doing so.

He could stay in Perth for his career, or he could randomly request a trade to Brisbane, where his sister lives, for all we know.

Yeah, agree on all above, Tbh, it is what I hoped for from JHF too - had no issue with him going home at 26 having put in the hard yards.

Geelong for the lifestyle in 2032 or so would be fine. He'll get to play alongside Dangerfield!
