Sorry, but I may have mislead yourself and everyone else.

Where I said the map is the size of GTA IV, San Andreas and Red Dead Redemption combined, I was a tad off.

Just the city of Los Santos is bigger than GTA IV, Sand Andreas and RDR combined, that doesn't include the country side, desert, other towns etc.

This game will surely be over three discs.

Surely that is ridiculous. San Andreas and RDR are huge!

Here's the direct quote.

"When you include interior and exterior spaces together,Los Santos is bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption,San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto IV combined"

Looks epic. Not really digging the three protagonist thing though.

Question: Will I be forced to play as all three or can I do the whole game as one?

They're stories sound intertwined, so you'll probably play all three over the course of the game.

I'm convinced Rockstar can execute this with skill.

I think at some point you will have to complete missions as each one, outside of that though you can just be the one character.

Some other facts on the protagonists front.

- Protagonists live in three separate areas, allowing people to explore the huge map straight away

- When not using a character, they will go about their daily business, meaning you could swap back into that character in numerous scenarios

- Some missions will have two or more protagonists involved, in that scenarion, you can swap protagonists through out the mission, or alternatively you can stay as the same one throughout the mission

- If you think back to 'Three Leaf Clover' in GTA IV, the multiple protagonists in a mission could mean that you have one protagonists in charge of fending off the police, one in charge of getting to and breaking into the vault and one in charge of the getaway etc. allowing for much greater depth to the mission and allowing you to choose your role in it.

I could see actions with one character affecting standing with a certain gang (and area), then having to use a different character in that area going forward

If they execute this like previous GTA's this could be the best game ever.

Agree, a poster on GTA V net summed it up well.

General there are three main criteria for judging how great a game is.

1) The map
2) Variety
3) Re-playability

Now the map, as has been noted, is ****ing massive, so that almost certainly appears to be a tick.

Variety should be a given, but we'll see.

The big thing though is the re-playability, the fact we have three protagonists means we have three completely different experiences, while the ability in some mission to change between characters give us a totally different experience from a different perspective!

I think GTA IV while good, lacked in those three categories, especially number three.

I have never been so excited for a game before.
