What would be the impacts of major league football removing their Reserves competition?

Players not required to play Seniors would be released to their district club in a similar way VFL players are released to play at their GVL club.
We will see this more and more, with mous with minor league clubs

Well, if you head over to regional interstate leagues like in Broome (West Kimberley), East Kimberley, NT Leagues around the Barkly, Big Rivers, and I presume some QLD leagues, have only 1 mens senior team.

I don't think it needed in the GVFL for a while as it would most likely start from smaller leagues first like the LVFL, KDFL

I certainly am not vouching for it to occur at any level. Reserves football is the lifeblood of community footy.

I feel that the minor leagues are going ok when it comes to filling reserves sides as they aren't requiring as much commitment as a major league.

Whys Cooper Hamilton 5 points? Shouldn't he be 6 or 1?
Also if he misses on the midsection draft, will he come back to rochy full time, they look the main challengers with ky to Echuca

Interested to see how the Swans go against the tigers next week.
It will be their first real test, should be a good one.

Princess Park has traditionally been a ground Rochester has struggled to play, too.

Ky - Mansfield (unfair travelling two big away journeys in succession), and Shepp - Echuca are other contests worth watching.

If Shepp are ever going to beat Echuca then this weekend coming would be it. Echuca decimated by injury….Shepp would have fire in the belly….

I thought Euroa were a chance to get their season going with a win against Seymour and push for 6th position, but obviously Seymour were too good.
Top 6 is settled already.
I still think it can be any of the top 4 (Shepp, Echuca, Rochy or Ky) for the GF.
Shepp v Echuca game of the round, and all other games should be competitive aswell

Have a look across the board, i think 18 is the new 22 for Reserves football.

Multiple teams struggling to fill all positions week in week out
It's quite extraordinary how weak reserves footy is in the bush. The standard in some games is just a joke. So many old blokes, unfit, young kids, playing subs, travellers, friends, etc ... Not until you see a suburban or bigger regional League type club with 6 on the bench do you really understand how close to the cliff country footy is.

Ventured up the Hume expecting a good game but was quite underwhelmed by the one sided first half.

Euroa just didn't appear up for it early, and kicked their first goal at the 30min mark of Q3.

Seymour took their chances indeed and owned ridiculous amounts of time in their front half which simply shouldn't occur at that level of football, especially when method and ball use offered enough looks at turnover opportunity.
Only interest for me in the latter part of the day was hoping like hell my partners son didn't get picked off as emotions threatened to boil over in Q4.

The drop of in reserves numbers and standard is directly related to how serious and “professional” country football clubs tried to be.

Just had a chat with a young fella who just enjoyed a kick in the 2’s asked if he was playing this year and he said no. The reason was that pre season starts in November and is expected to train 2 nights a week like a senior player. He has work, university etc and felt like he wasn’t wanted if he didn’t do everything the club asked
Not surprised to hear this, my lads are playing where I'm involved simply as logistically and financially it's convenient to jump in with me as it wont impact them as much at 17 and 19yo.
