If you lose your two rucks, a couple of gun mids, a key forward etc they will be hard to replace. For mine, Morris would be the biggest loss as his presence and ability to kick goals whilst resting forward will be sorely missed if he retires.
True, but I think echuca have built their club, where they've still got a core 14 senior players, and young guys hanging out for opportunities wanting to step up and play for echuca.

They'll come on really quickly playing with playing with the seniors, their taught standards at training and will buy into echuca footy and the cultures and standards the core senior guys ask for to play ones at echuca. The club might be the strongest club in the state at the moment outside the vfl

Wouldn't mind a few mate.
I can tell you that at this point in time that Echuca have only lost 3 x players from there premiership side of 2024. Those being, Lias (only played 6 games for the year with injury and travel) and Prout (Carlton VFL full time) and the much loved Daniel Willis for family reasons. That is it.

They also have signed former Bendigo Pioneer players in Lachlan Hogan (Essendon VFL- Ech home club) and Mitch Bell full time.
They also have 10 players from there 2024 under 18 flag that have re signed. They have lost a couple depth players from there reserves but the 10 under 18 players will more than cover those.
I don’t think Echuca will be any weaker, they could actually be stronger with the natural progression of there younger players on there senior list who have all stuck around. Scary to think.

Not sure why we want to see "big name recruits" splattered everywhere. Most of the QAFL and blokes that have come from AFL lists have been shown up in the GV the past few years. Most have left as quickly as they have arrived.

Last time Echuca went down that path they had the "super team" they made finals and the club spent the next 10 years trying to rebuild. Clubs have to build around the best juniors in their area and make their list stronger.

Thats why I like what Mansfield are doing. Good leadership, good kids and a couple of key pillars to build around. Reckon they will improve a lot in 2025-26.

I understand the juniors' point, but when you have a town of 25k compared to a town of 2-3k, that becomes more difficult to pull off. This was not taken into consideration under the current auspices.

Is it true that Echuca to double or add 15k in the next 10-20 years. The estates going out west of town, with moama growing aswell.
May as well have a VFL team from Echuca

Interested that 2 Moama juniors have moved the move to Echuca, if Moama was in the GVFL would they have moved?

Goes both ways and Moama wouldn’t have had such a large Kyabram contingent for the last few years if in GVL . Which no doubt would have further hindered their ability to compete at senior level .
As is often the case there seems to be a trend away from one of the Echuca/ Moama based sides and atm it appears to be Moama.
People seem keen to see Moama in the GVL for the purpose of making Echuca weaker .
Personally think Moama needs to dominate at senior level , predominately with home grown talent, for 2-3 years at least before considering a move .

That feels hard when their best juniors are leaving for Echuca. Which may not happen if they were in the GV. May even get some Echuca locals coming back the other way if they were.

With their current structure, Echuca’s junior aren’t going anywhere but to a higher standard. Whilst it currently isnt just junior footballers moving away from Moama , but footballers and netballers of all ages . It isn’t unprecedented in Echuca / Moama as one of the 3 clubs in the town always seem to be in that pattern .
There was similar discussion in the early 2000’s when Echuca were dominating and Moama were a lot stronger over a longer period at senior level than they have been in recent years .
A few new people in the club aspiring to be top dog in the town which is great . But reality might set in extremely quick as it appears they’ve lost a lot more than they’ve gained since this talk of moving leagues has started in earnest , which may suggest not all are on board .

Echuca reserves this year probably had atleast 15 guys that would play seniors in any other GV team. Would be interesting to see if they would have spread to Moama for more opportunity. Suspect there would have been a few.
Regarding your last point, not sure if you were referring to players or club people in general but interestingly a lot of the players that have left have gone to other GV clubs.

‘ Returned ‘ to GV clubs or gone with players ‘Returning ‘ to GVL clubs.
Players are far more likely to join close clubs in different leagues than another club in the same league .
Moama s best chance of obtaining Echuca reserves players is if they are in a different league .

They would have finished 6th I reckon, that's how strong their depth is
