Random Gift Ideas - Ft Mr Gander

Thread title says it all.

If you want something more specific give us some info about the person who will be receiving the gift, eg: Age, gender, likes, hobbies and so on.

If you have a specialty in an area let us know so you can be the guru of that field. My specialty area is probably wine, with dry red being right in my wheelhouse.

If your specialty is hats, probably just go to the hat thread.

And all ideas for Mr Gander are welcome. I'd also get him some black garlic salt, that way you can use it too PG.

A random frame from The Simpsons would make for a wonderful gift.

Are you a cab sav man, or a Shiraz type, or your Pino noir or maybe some of the interesting blends like your Shiraz Mourvèdre job?

Cab Sav is probably my number one with shiraz second. Don't mind cab franc, cab shiraz and a number of other blends. But a good cab sav from Coonawarra is a thing of beauty. John Riddoch used to be my go to as I could get it for $50 a bottle. Good luck getting it anywhere now it's an icon under $150. Pinot I enjoy but don't drink it as much but have found some exception stuff around.

I know some good whites as Mrs Crim likes white wine.

Mrs Crim works for a wine auction company so regularly can get access to good stuff at good rates.

Saturday is the day.
Old man just finished JFK Unspeakable again and devils chessboard for the third time.

Tells you how much he rates them.

Also, Trump apparently said today he’s going to release all classified documents on JFK, RFK and MLK soon. Can’t wait!

Hey Crimson Azure . The books went down a treat. Partner PG spent most of the day not moving from the couch with JFK, the Unspeakable yesterday while wearing his new Dark Side of the Moon T-shirt.
I love it when’s gift comes together.

Any thoughts on the book now he’s had it a couple of weeks?

He’s on The Devil’s Chessboard now. Wanted to sandwich the broader sinister intelligence agencies between 2 JFK slabs as a kind of conspiracy sandwich

One year I made a personalised calendar using family photos and inside jokes...was cheap, fun to make, and got laughs all year.
Very interesting first location to post.

I print off wrapping paper with inside family jokes, photos and other stupid stuff. Family love it too.

What does Mr Gander like and I'll quiz my dad when I see him Thursday?

The books I was talking about in the other thread Proper Gander.

Book my dad has read a couple of times and is in the midst of a third read: Hitler And Stalin: Parallel Lives

Just got this book for my dad: Hitler and Stalin: The Tyrants and the Second World War

Ok Proper Gander had a chat with Father Crim and looked through some of his books today and here are some recommendations:
  • Rasputin: The Last Word - Edvard Radzinsky
  • Japan 1941: Countdown to Infamy - Eri Hotta
  • The Private Life of Chairman Mao - Zhisui Li
  • Mao: The Unknown Story - Jung Chang
  • Mao's Last Revolution
  • The Rise of Modern China
  • Nelson Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom
In no particular order but he did say that The Private Life of Chairman Mao is a page turner. Japan 1941 is an honest account of event from a Japanese and he really rated it. The book on Mandela made him a big fan of the man.
