Notice :

Do not post names of players speculated to be involved in the sexual assault claims.

There has been a very clear suppression order put on anyone naming or speculating on players involved.

This is a site wide rule that must be followed.

What was the trade that led to this? Can't remember Melbourne being involved in any decent trades last off season
Pick 9 for Melbournes F1. They traded before draft night because Essendon thought a bid for Kako would come top 10. It did not.

Why?
Diabolical look for Melbourne.

If they're not ridiculously over compensated, why would they let him go (contracted until about 2029 or something). It's not like they need the cap space or will attract other senior players.
I don’t know why. He doesn’t want to be there and the team is looking pretty dog shit so maybe a clean out is needed.

It’s still a chasing pack. Lions just cruising for the bulk of matches and switching gears when they need to. Sign of a very strong team completely at ease with what they can do. A premiership gives that confidence
Absolutely, I cant wait for this game Saturday afternoon the 24th May vs Brisbane. Will be a real test for us. Dear, MacDonald and Scrimshaw back, we should be flying.

Essendon thought that a Kako bid would come earlier so they preemptively looked for the best deal available for Pick 9. It was rather reactionary given he lasted until 14 but it's worked in their favour.

Melbourne really rated Xavier Lindsay and likely didn't think they would struggle this much.

The full deal was:
  • Essendon give up Pick 9 and a future third
  • Essendon receive Melbourne's future first [currently Pick 2] + Picks 28, 40, 46, 54, 65

Will be interesting to see how that game goes considering we have a five day break leading into the Darwin game followed by an 8 day break before playing the lions.

If they can’t beat us given how bad our lead in is they won’t get close to us in finals if we play them again at the mcg.

I hope we bury them.

The MCG bogey is over for them. No chance we will bury them they and the Cats are the big threats around us. Firepower is off the charts when they are up and running. Best footy is the only way we ein

Their youth is atrocious. Some of their green shoots look serviceable but aside from one or two I don’t see much A-grade potential there.

Reid is their saviour but his performances this year have been very average.

I feel like they’ll practically be pushing Allen out so they can have Picks 1 + 2 before Tassie hits.
If I was in their shoes i'd offer him 1 year on minimum wage. Tell him get his payday or success or whatever. They need that pick more than him right now.

Even though warm conditions tigers v dockers going at a frantic pace
Richmond go at a frantic pace for 15 minutes, then they're blowing chunks like Harley Reid for the rest of the game.

I’d say the MCG bogey isn’t over with yet. They still don’t play that well on it compared to other grounds.

They can score quickly but also give up a lot of goals quickly and their forward line is very feast or famine.

They are relying on running over the top of teams. If they can’t overrun us after a Darwin trip we should beat them easily come finals where we will be playing better footy.

If we beat port and Geelong, there's a chance we could become 9-0, with us facing wce, Melbourne and tigers consecutively

Every game I watch, whenever a player goes down the umpire will stop the play. Callan Ward just had sore ribs there but they stopped play.

And I think back to when Lewis was both concussed and did his ACL, where the umpire just let things play out and they rebounded for a goal while he was lying on the ground.

What is the point of the "Stand!" rule if it is enforced once out every half a dozen times?
So many times players are told to Stand 3 or 4 times and ump does nothing.
Then someone half steps with no warning and it's 50.

So frustrating.

Edit: Toby just now!
Agreed, just get rid of it.
Player moves off the line, play on!

Well after 5.5 long years I’m finally making my way home with my family and looking forward to my first Easter Monday whatever the result in person since 2019. Hope to see many of you at training or games this year and beyond and more importantly driving the daughters indoctrination!!!

Arriving just in time for the MSD, then a mini pre-season to get you right for Finals.
