Interesting. Speaking to a Bulldogs staffers over the weekend. They could not wait to see the back of him. Fair to say there's more going on there than even the media has reported.

Was mentioned quite a bit in the trade period threads by a few posters that we had pretty good reasons to avoid chasing his recruitment as early as we did and none of them had to do with our midfield mix.

Absolutely loving that Tony Jones being a miserable little pissant is now global news. Also love that he’s using the ‘I apologise if Novak was offended’ - mate, what you said was utterly stupid. I hate Novak - but you can’t call him overrated or a has-been, and you sure as shit shouldn’t do it as a deplorably bad attempt of humour when you’re the official tournament broadcaster.

This is what happens when you have deadshits like JB and BT doing the main coverage of our sport - the bar is so low for sports presenters in this country. What’s galling is that there are really good broadcasters out there who would provide great, insightful coverage but networks seem convinced that this banal ‘banter’ crap is what will rake in the viewers. Athletes get told all the time to ‘shut up and dribble’ - how about commentators shut up and commentate. When I think of the very best commentators globally - not one of them are admired for their banter but their eloquent calling, knowledge and insight. Can we eradicate this ‘boofhead’ shit that was already growing tedious in the 90s and focus on good calling and analysis.

Problem is everyone haas a different definition of humor. The australian humor doesnt go down well with alot of people.

Saying that Jones was way out of line. Have heard him on the radio a few times over the summer comes across as very patronizing.

Have they still got the segments of Andy Lee doing painfully unfunny comedy with the players? Maybe that'll get the viewers in. I think there is bound to be some ratings drop off now that Federer and Nadal are both no longer around - people will need to get used to the new generation talent coming through. Plus Ash retiring early would probably have the ratings dipping compared to 2-3 years ago.

Hoping Novak crashes and burns - but he has every right to be offended at Jones' shtick and he was well within his rights to not play nicely with the 9 crew last night given what occurred.

Even if he was - the risk you run though when you're not remotely witty nor funny, which Jones isn't, is that you just come off as being sincerely offensive. That Tony Jones has multiple TV gigs is everything that's wrong with sports broadcasting at present. Ken Sutcliffe was an empty suit but he was inoffensive so wouldn't have me clamouring for the remote - someone like Tony Jones has me looking for the mute button at the speed of light.

This - when you're as funny and as entertaining as Kerry O'Keefe you can get away with it. When you are snivelling little campaigner like Tony Jones - not so much. When you are making me side side with Novak Djokovic and Bec Judd then boy are you a terrible individual.

However what I would say is that if it was a Flog off between the two, I would still call Novak the winner.

Tomic is the only real rival to him in the world of sport Flog Off IMO.

Drugs at a music festival? Surely not! Still remember being offered ecstasy when in the front row to watch The Mars Volta many moons back at a Big Day Out and hoping to hell the bloke who offered it to me was keeping up with his water - because being under the tent in a sea of people on a summer's day at the Goldy absolutely drained the shit out of me.
